Major League Soccer

Recommended Posts

I was playing Championship Manager on my PC and decided to play in the MLS league in the USA. I couldn't believe how different football is over there. Here are a few things I have noticed:

1. Every league game goes to extra time if it is a draw after 90 minutes. If it is a draw after 120 minutes then it is declared a draw.

2. Playoff games are over two legs, and do not take goal difference into account. Each game has to have a winner, and if it's a draw after 120 minutes it goes to a 35 Yard Shootout (See #3). If it is one game a piece after the two legs, a third decider game is played.

3. Instead of penalty shootouts, they have a 35 yard shootout. This is where five players from each team have a certain amount of time (about 6 seconds) to score one on one with the keeper starting his run 35 yards out.

It's Madness I Tell Ya!

They used to show MLS football on Channel 5 late at night, Don't know if they still do.

Ahh, Glen that's where I get my afection for Miami Fusion from. But I believe as the MLS was re-structured two seasons ago them and Tampa Bay (Pirates?) were disbanded to make the League equal.

It is madness!!!
