Mauritius Sports & Pennant 2-4 Enfield

E's were without Paul Oshin & Deniz Mehmet due to Injuries and Wesley Borghys who was rested to the bench. Chris Thomas was rested .

In the opening exchanges E's were on the offensive as Remi Nelson tee'd up Neil Hughes but he skied his shot over the top 2 mins. But MS&P hit back straight away with Steve Opoka's effort going miles wide , MS&P's Michael Marin let fly from outside the box but again it was miles wide 6 mins, Despite much territorial advantage the next opening for E's arrived on 15 mins as Adilson Lopes worked himself into a good position but his shot was a whisker over the top . A good ball by Jack Coomes split MS&P's defence as Neil Hughes was put away but Michael Marin hauled him back but Referee Mr Franklin only booked him even though he appeared to be the last man ??? 20 mins. A good run by Neil Hughes who beat his man well and a precise cross found Lee Benmore but his header rebounded back off the crossbar and then rebounded off Lee again and rolled behind 22 mins.Neil Hughes lets fly but MS&P keeper Blessing Kwambana was well behind it 25 mins. On 26 mins Lee Benmore got kicked in the face accidentally and had to leave the field with his mouth bleeding heavily ,After a long delay Danny Jones replaced him. Adilson Lopes was taken down just inside the box but Mr Franklin ignored E's penalty appeals 33 mins .Danny Jones does well to put Sherwin Stanley away but Blessing Kwambana read it well and was out quickly to clear . On 38 mins E's went ahead as Ricardo Armado's floated cross dropped to Sherwin Stanley who controlled the ball before picking his spot and blasting past Blessing Kwambana 1-0 E's . MS&P players surrounded Referee Mr Franklin and his assistant claiming offside but the goal stood. Ricardo Armado made himself a good opening but he scuffed his shot at the vital moment 40 mins , Adilson Lopes was hacked down by Chris Parillon and the MS&P defender was booked 41 mins. From Graeme Butler's stinging freekick Chris Parillon made a good block to deny him , Graeme Butler's corner found Jack Coomes but his clever flick went a whisker over the bar 43 mins. In stoppage time Neil Hughes made a fine run out on the touchline and beating two challenges before whipping over a firm low cross and Danny Jones was on hand to ram the ball home from six yards 2-0 E's . Almost straight from the kick off a shot by Guy Okran had Steve Wright back peddling but the ball was inches off target . H/T

2nd Half............. Graeme Butler's freekick went a whisker over the bar on 46 mins , Sherwin Stanley put Danny Jones in with a chance but he scuffed his shot straight at Blessing Kwanbana 49mins. But on 52 mins MS&P pulled a goal back against the play as Allan Browne puts over a deep cross which looked harmless enough but from the edge of the box Steve Opoka's tame looking header found its way into the bottom corner past Steve Wright 2-1 E's. This gave MS&P some encouragement and they briefly had E's pushed back and Steve Opoka's freekick was met by Daniel Mathieu but Jack Coomes made a good block to deny him 54 mins. Steve Opoka again threatened but Chris Green did well to disposess him of the ball 55 mins. A shot by Steve Opoka went over Steve Wrights crossbar 63 mins . But on 65 mins E's regained the upper hand as a careless piece of defening with a backheader presented Neil Hughes with a run on goal He cheekily lobbed the ball over the advancing Blessing kwambana before nudging the ball home ,But amazingly an Assistants offside flag went up and Referee Mr Franklin quite rightly overruled the assistant 3-1 E's 65 mins. Almost straight from the kick off E's won a freekick about 35 yards out Graeme Butler's delivery fell to Danny Jones who stabbed the ball home from close range 4-1 E's 66 mins. A shot by MS&P's Karl Blake went straight at Steve Wright . Another chance for E's as Danny Jones was put clear but Blessing Kwambana did well to save 69 mins. (E's sub Elvis Balic on for Adilson Lopes 71 mins) A mazy run by Neil Hughes but his shot was blocked by Jamie Wellbrook 72 mins. A shot by Steve Opoka went wide for MS&P 75 mins. Neil Hughes was chopped down by Chris Parillon but no second yellow for him ??? 76 mins .(MS&P sub Adetokubo Orenaike on for Karl Blake 79 mins ) On 82 mins E's were caught backing off as Allen Browne made himself some room with a good run and unleashed a firm shot into Steve Wright's top corner 4-2 E's . Sherwin Stanley puts Danny Jones in with a chance but Blessing Kwambana did well to save 84 mins . A Graeme Butler freekick falls to Sherwin Stanley but somehow he manages to head it wide 85 mins. A bizarre moment of misjudgment for Blessing Kwambana as Graeme Butler's freekick from inside E's half bounces in front of him "clears him" and comes crashing back off the crossbar with Neil Hughes just crowded out of following it up 88 mins (E's sub Wes Borghys on for Jack Coomes 89 mins) Neil Hughes tee's up Danny Jones but he puts wide 90 mins. Elvis balic found himself booked for kicking the ball away after a disputed discision . In stoppage time Neil Hughes blazes wide . F/T

Yes it was a poor turn out these things happen such as ......

Almost as bad as the hardy 49 that attended hanwell recently . Assuming half those were home fans then it puts a slight damper on your travelling hoards .

So the crowd was more than double for a midweek (champions league night) minor cup game against lower league team.

But Saturday? League game? Going for the league title? It just seemed a very low crowd.

I would have thought that being the only trophy left available for Town to win that a few more would have travelled there malc.
