Extraordinary General Meeting of MFC on April 28th

Earlier this week I received notification of an Extraordinary Meeting of the Margate Football Club Limited to be held on Monday, April 28th.

The Notice was signed by Keith Piper and presumably has been issued to all Shareholders. There are two items of business:

1. The appointment of G T Lever to the board of directors

2. The appointment of T J Prosser to the board of directors

I have some concerns, including these:

a) Why was the Notice issued by Keith Piper and not the Chairman?

B) Why call an EGM now?

c) An E.G.M is an unusual, if not an irregular method of selecting potential new directors. Besides, we have a new director in Terry Painter and there was no EGM for his recent adoption. This type of decision is normally discussed and ratified at an AGM.

d) What are reasons behind this and what is Keith Piper trying to achieve?

e) One of the nominations is Mr Lever. Wouldn't there be a conflict of interest if he were elected to the Board?

f) When will the shareholders receive notice of the AGM?

Can a fellow supporter or shareholder shed some light on this? Being London-based, I'm not in a position to read the local press or hear the "word on the street".

Some of you maybe aware of the "Boardroom Battle" going on at Millwall FC. Here's an article from the MSC Millwall Supporters Website.

It appears that the battle lines are being drawn, the only problem I can see is that any forthcoming battle will be fought over the future of our club so what does it all mean to us? Who do we back? I can only give you the facts I have been given and give you my view on things. I am pretty sure there are more questions than answers. I think it is imperative our support goes firmly behind what is best for Millwall. I have said it before Millwall will never be owned by any one individual as we the fans will always own it.

I find this amazing, 189 posts on the men only thread to get Trotty out but something far more important to the future of Margate FC we have just 5!!!

Agree it is more important Alan-i care about two things.

a)club survival

B) club does not go 'lower' than Ryman premier.

However, the on field matters are transparent to us all-and thus we can comment.

I'm sure given a chance it will get pleanty of airtime-its only been upo as a thread for a few hours !!Many are at work !

The off field issues-whatever they are-frankly-we have hardly any knowledge -and rightly they are not transparent-so it is very hard to comment on them.

I guess many of us are armchair managers, armchair centre forwards, but decline to be armchair directors,so credit to those directors who do put time and money into the club

The wranglings of the 'suits' are all a bit arcane for the fans to comment on. At least we can all see what happens on the pitch and make a judgment. Sounds a bit like a Liverpool-type situation is brewing, but, hey, what do I know! All I would ask is, who is TJ Prosser?

I thought JJ had mentioned what it was about(above). Is there a need to speculate on A.O.B?.

I'm sure any panic on our parts isn't necessary, especially as it seems they are taking ON new Directors.Rather positive I would have thought rather than the opposite.

As for the timing of the meeting or it being an E.G.M there could be many reasons for this, none of which I would have thought would be for the negative.
