Enfield 1 - 4 Romford

E's fixture pile up finally took its toll with our 5th game in 10 days being one match too many against a fresh Romford side .

A very quiet start ,but on 7 mins Lee Benmore's corner found Wes Borghys but his header was straight at Romford keeper Danny Mulrooney Moment's later Lee Pyne heads a cross well wide . A difficult corner by Lee Pyne and Steve Wright made a good take 15 mins.Neil Hughes almost got Sherwin Stanley through but Rob Port did well to intercept 23 mins. Deniz Mehmet puts over a good cross and again Rob Port does well to cut it cut 29 mins. A slip in the E's defence gives Lee Pyne a good chance but he lobs the ball well wide 32 mins. Martin Heed's corner falls to Paul Clayton but his header is to tame to trouble Steve Wright 37 mins A freekick by Lee Pyne caused another problem but Chris Green did well to clear the ball 39 mins. Another Martin Heed corner finds Ricky Mackin but his flick goes over the top 41 mins . Sherwin Stanley looked to have been put through with a legitamate ball but the female assistant astonishingly flagged him off ? 44 mins. H/T

2nd Half A good cross from Brad Jones caused Chris Green a problem as he almost sliced his clearence into his own goal but Steve Wright adjusted himself to grab the ball 47 mins. On 51 mins Romford take the lead as a half clearence falls to Danny Rafis who lets fly from 20yards into the roof of Steve Wright's net 1-0 Romford . A brief responce from E's as Lee Benmore's corner caused Danny Mulrooney a problem but he managed to push it clear 54 mins. Ricky Mackin is booked for a foul on Deniz Mehmet 55 mins , (E's subs Chris Thomas on for Chris Green "who started the match whilst ill " and Sean Clarke on for Lee Benmore 57 mins) With a lack of fit defenders the risky three at the back system was deployed ! Chris Thomas was put through but Danny Mulrooney bravely saved at his feet 60 mins .(E's sub Remi Nelson on for Sam Oki 61 mins) Graeme Butler's underhit backpass caused Steve Wright a problem but he just managed to clear the ball away with Brad Jones bearing down on him 62 mins . Sherwin Stanley tee's up Neil Hughes but he drags his shot a foot wide 63 mins. Steve Wright almost made a hash of a backpass with a poor cleaence but he somehow got away with it 70 mins. A long throw by Sherwin Stanley and Adilson Lopes puts a ball across the Romford six yard box but nobody was there to meet it 74 mins. (Romford sub Jerry Lyons on for Des Gallen 75 mins) On 76 mins Deniz Mehmet was put clear but Danny Mulrooney again saved at his feet but as Deniz went for a second bite he got too much of Mulrooney and was sent off for a lunge . Danny Mulrooney couldn't continue and was relaced by Jake Matthews . Sherwin Stanley had a chance to test Matthews but the young keeper saved 83 mins , Sherwin Stanley again with a half chance but badly scuffs his shot at Matthews 84 mins .(Romford sub Chris Barry on for Martin Heed 85 mins ) Steve Wright does well to save from Brad Jones 86 mins . Neil Hughes crosses and Graeme Butler heads well wide 87 mins. With 88 mins on the clock Romford went two up as Lee Pyne's corner finds Jerry Lyons totally unmarked and his shot crossed the line despite Sean Clarke's valiant attempt to keep it out . With much stoppage time expected E's were back in the match on 92 mins as Chris Thomas breaks into the box and is upended by Paul Clayton , Clayton is sent off by the Referee for a professional foul Graeme Butler blasted the penalty home 1-2 . With E's throwing bodies forward Romford hit E's with a ball played along the wing ,The female assistant flags for an offside as Danny Rafis crosses ? and then puts her "flag down" ? With E's defenders hesitating Brad Jones fires home 3-1 Romford 98 mins . To cap off a miserable evening for E's and with their spirits clearly broken ,Jerry Lyons puts over a cross for Brad Jones to ram home to make the score line more emphatic 102 mins . F/T

I was more surprised that we have no more saturday matches when everybody else has . Remember Janurary we never had a game for 3 WEEKS . In fact only one league match in Janurary ? whats that about ? And then the final saturday BARKINGSIDE v CONCORD coincidence or what ?

Hardly a coincidence considering the fixtures were out in July. Who would have expected Side to be up there with the best.. Another CT goes down the swannee.
