Lee Boylan

Do you think you will be able to keep hold of him for another season or do you think a conference club will come in for him?

How much do you think you would get for him or is he out of contract in the summer?

Good luck for next year!

He signed a two year deal at the beginning of the season to keep him at Park Lane. If anyone wants him they're gonna have to pay a bit for him otherwise we'd be stupid to let him go. I think bids from Conference clubs would be rejected unless they were mega-bucks. Boylan had the chance to go to another Club this pre-season but he decided to stay with Canvey and sign on again.

One thing with the new Transfer System is that players can talk to whoever they like during the close season but if a deal is struck fees have to be paid.

If Real Madrid came in for Boylan, he could spend a fortnight training with them but at the end of it he would have to come back to Canvey unless they paid a reasonable fee of which Canvey accepted.

Boylan is too good for us and probably too good for most Conference teams. Same goes for JK & Minton probably. If he went anywhere it would be a Football League team. Although there was a small rumour going around that just after Westley took charge, Stevenage were 'interested' in his services.

I have told many of my work colleagues to watch out for the name Lee Boylan as he is good enough to be playing in a Division 1 / 2 team and I firmly beleive with his runs etc etc and better players around him he would still csore 25+ a season.

Sorry the rest of the Canvey chaps but he makes some fantastic runs that dont get seen.

Anyway I hope he stays for at least another season so we can have another crack at the league.

I've always wondered how we got hold of him in the first place. All I know is that we had him on trial at the beginnng of last season and in his first game scored two goals in three minutes.

Where did he appear from? He's played in Europe too apparently after leaving West Ham and made a name for himself in the Conference.

I'd like to know how he was invited to Park Lane. Surely Glenn Pennyfather was told about him through his contacts and he was offered a trial. Amazing if no-one else came in for him though!!!

I know when he played in the Conference the name he made for himself wasn't a partcularly good one especially when he was playing for Hayes/Kingstonian/Exeter.

But that's all behind him now, and he looks odds on to win the Golden Boot and be Canvey's top-scorer two seasons running now. Well done Lee!!!

Lee reminds me and it has been remarked on of Tony Cottee in his heyday. Like Cottee he's a goal poacher and I think had the talent to break into the West Ham first team. Unfortunately when he came through he had John Hartson in front of him who was banging in the goals and then Ian Wright and Di Canio. I think Lee had a spell in Sweden with Trelleborgs but he hardly pulled up any trees playing for Hayes and Kingstonian.

Obviously playing for a successful premiership youth team he has picked up some good habits. His first touch is superb for this level, his off the ball running is second to none and his workrate is superb.

The reason why nobody has come in for Lee is that in this current financial climate nobody is prepared to pay decent money for a Ryman League player.

Most third or Second division clubs could not afford to buy Lee (most 2nd/3rd div clubs can only afford free transfers) and prem and 1st div clubs would not consider him good enough for that level.

How to end a conversation ... mention Paul Cobb in the same paragarph as Lee Boylan !!

If Boylan goes ... and I really hope he doesn't. Let's see the meteoric rise of Michael Lee next season (come to think of it let's see it anyway. I reckon he is more than ready for it).

Boylan, Minton and Kennedy could all make it in Div2. As anyone at the Port Vale game would have seen Minton was their best player. I hope we can keep these players for this season as they will be almost impossible to replace, anyone who considers players like Vaughn and Cobb in the same catagory as Boylan must be insane!!! My only concern is that some of the "bigger" local sides such as Southend, D&R and Orient must surely be aware of these players and as they are full time clubs they must be able to offer better contracts than Canvey.

Dean Greygoose is now at Sudbury Town. After he was 'released' by us...more likely kicked out the door, he went to Kings Lynn.

As for Michael Lee, I fully agree, his only down-fall would be that he is playing in JK's position and like Mark Graham it would be hard for him to keep JK out of the team...

However anyone who saw the Hayes Bryco Cup game, (I only remember less than 10 of the Yellow Army turning up) would agree that Michael Lee fully deserved Man of the Match for that game and set up Craig Davidson's goal.

He would be a rare player to make it through the Park Lane ranks, but I reckon he's up for it, (we've already added him to the First XI Squad Page) and it's good to see him training before the games with the First XI.

From what i have seen of Lee Boylan he could make it a lower league side. Most lower league sides dont have Jeefs cash to back them up so might not be able to offer more than canvey. Of the local sides Southend to poor, Orient money earmarked for ground re-devolpment, Colchester and Dagenham are out side chances but only if they could get him on the cheap which I doubt they could.

Cum on Ricay are you p1$$ed?

I could actually make sense of that post which contained full-stops, commas, capital letters!! Well done.

Keep improving and you might actually get a positive response from the Yellow Army and you won't be thought so brainless!!

But your point is well taken.

I doubt that Boylan would even consider a 3rd Div club, the pay structure at most would not be benificial for him to give up his day job by going full time, I would say the same for Conference clubs. I do believe he is happy with the club and the players around him too.

It was rumoured that Aldershot tried a £40,000 bid for him not so long ago!!

Ahh Pilgrim, you were obviously talking to Boylan's Dad at the 'Ricay game. I didn't know he had a day job!! I thought he was a Pro!!! Or does his day job consist of kicking footballs at the local park?

No, I think his day job is a tad more 'in depth' than kicking the ball with kids in the Park!!

Cannot compare Boylan with Cobb, two totally different in style and quality, Lee Boylan is tops in my tree. Can't see many that would equal his strike rate.
