just some thoughts at bedtime....and I...

Recommended Posts

....was driving back from the club to my office today and got caught up in a 'Gulf War' Soldiers funeral.....massive turn out it was......

anyway....I was right alongside the lead car in me little ol' austin a40 and the immediate family were right next to me and I could see and feel the raw grief and sadness.....I almost cried with them in relief.....I was chocked.....because...

selfish as it may seem.... my own airbourne urchin is now on his way home...safe...for the the present time anyway.........and...

I warched the ten o clock news on ITV....very unbiased I must say...anyway...we had a few seconds of the funeral of a household cavalry guardsman killed in the Gulf and then an overdose of the funeral of some islamic cleric that wasn't even born in this country let alone fought for it..... immediately afterwards....but.......back to the funeral of the (to me) unknown hero.....

it made me realise how fortunate some of us are and how one strike of misfortune can render a family asunder.....so much so that I couldn't begin to comprehend the pain even though we've come to terms with the worse case scenario years ago......anyway....a sobering experience and it made me realise....

how little really our current promotion battle and subsequent tensions matter.....football is a game and wars are serious....on that theme I wish Glen Roeder all the best and I will think of his family...a good man.....

and.....Manu U were unlucky tonight and they did not get the run of the ball.....but

real madrid are a sublime example of the footballing arts and I hope they win the Champions League....but...

my old insider mukka tells me that 'bend it'...is on his way....good luck to him...he's great...(can't f*****g stand his missus though)...

he'll like Madrid...we lived there for many years....different class.....aaahhhh...Serrano girls....dunt ya just love it.....anyway........

looks like the labour minister for baghdad is just about to get shafted and on that note with a smile on my face I'm off to visit the sandman.....and

I hope we get the three points on saturday so we can have a p*** up in our own ground......sleep tight ...........

....or good morning...... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

Morning Official.

It's not selfish to be relieved that one's offspring are safe. No matter how old they get you still worry about them, I know I do. My old dad worries himself silly over my job, my driving down to Kent on the motorway by myself and he's in a total panic over my impromptu holiday!

Yep, I think you could be right about Becks but however brilliant he is we'll survive it. I thought the sky had caved in when Cantona left(purely personal reaction)!!

I like Madrid although I prefer Barcelona, fantastic city. Have a soft spot for Spain.. could be cos my grandmother was half Spanish!

(sorry pabird).

that was a good guess about the 'Harley' Lass cos I do have one tucked away...mind you the clue on the left probably helped....!!

as for the old A40....well I don't have one of those it's just my little joke but I do have a couple of rather nice 'oldies' to play with on sunny Sunday afternoons......

aaaahhhh........men and motors.....so predictable really aren't we...!!

Lass I used to think I was half bright but you have me now? Spanish grandmother and me?

PS I love Spain being a heat freak, Not a sun worshipper just love the damn thing on my back I also find Spanish people easy going and friendly, great golf courses

Most of all love that barmy warm air at around 10.00pm when just going out for a meal.

My children three all boys (men) and I carry on the tradition of my generation "show no pain" but I worry for them and their wives and children and I fear for any child that must nowdays make their way in safety

I swear we lived in a safer world

Sorry Pabird, I'm jumping about between threads here and trying to do some work at the same time!!

I was apologising due to your comments on the St George's Day thread not suggesting you knew my grandmother! Whilst I'm proud of being born in Yorkshire I'm also proud of my Spanish ancestry.

Morning again pabird. TFIF!! I shall be totally raving by the time I get on that plane Sunday morning. I have soooo much to do before I go. I shall be heading down the M1 tomorrow morning though and in the bar after the game to either celebrate or drown my sorrows!!
