Corinthian Casuals Appoint New Coach

Recommended Posts

Former Kentish Town Coach Hector Varela was today appointed Coach of Corinthian Casuals. Hector, who cut his Coaching teeth with Ajax in Amsterdam hails from Colombia and is UEFA 'A' qualified, he was instrumental in helping Kentish Town to the Spartan South Midlands League Division 1 Championship this season working hand in hand with the Club's former Nigerian International Head Coach Clement Temile.

Mr Varela has direct access to the cream of Colombian players based in London having led Colombia to the Inner City World Cup on no less than two occasions which is an annual FA recognised Community tournament, Hector brought former Colombian Youth International and West Ham trialist Javier Rivera to Kentish Town last season who may well decide to follow his mentor South of the River next season.

Folks - From the Non League Today Website, see you all on Sunday 3 August:

Corinthian-Casuals will turn back the clock this summer when they host a pre-season tournament for past winners of the FA Cup.

Entry for spectators is free and the Ryman League Division One South club - the highest-ranked amateur side in the country - are hoping for a bumper turn out to this sporting festival steeped in history.

Line-up of teams Corinthian-Casuals: World famous amateur team, who hold the record for inflicting Manchester United's record defeat (11-3), were the inspiration for Real Madrid adopting their white strip and Corinthians Paulista, Brazil's biggest club are named after them.

Old Carthusians: FA Cup winners in 1880-81 season, who have supplied nine full England international players. Old Carthusians' are the reigning Arthurian League champions and completed a double last season when they won the Arthur Dunn Cup for the sixth time.

Old Etonians: The last amateur team to win the FA Cup in 1881/82 season, having previously won it in 1878/79. Old Estonians' were also FA Cup runners-up on four other occasions. At their peak, Old Estonians' were a force to be reckoned with, and could boast players such as AF Kinnaird who appeared in nine of the first XI FA Cup finals for various clubs. OEs are currently members of the Arthurian League.

Royal Engineers: Appeared in four FA Cup finals during the 1870s winning the cup once in 1874/75 season. The club can boast having had six players selected for the full England team and are based in Chatham.

The tournament is being held at Casuals' King Georges Field Ground in Tolworth on Sunday, August 3rd, with gates opening at 11am.

A wonderful result for Corinthian-Casuals at Welsh Premier Division Prestatyn Town this afternoon, they only lost 2-0 with Prestatyn netting their second very close to the end of the proceedings. It will be interesting to see how they perform against newly promoted Llangefni Town tomorrow, also from the highly competitive Welsh Premier Division who's winners go into the Champions League.

What can I say, Corinthian-Casuals did it again this afternoon by drawing 1-1 at Llangefni Town, another extraordinary result if you consider the young team must have been out on their feet having, firstly travelled up to North Wales yesterday morning, played the game of their lives against Prestatyn Town and then had a deserved night on the town. All eyes will now be on Casuals tricky looking home friendly with Chertsey Town on Tuesday evening.

It seems like I am posting to myself on this thread but anyway the Conference South visitors caught their Ryman Division 1 South hosts cold yesterday and found themselves 3-0 to the good after just 15 minutes, a cricket score looked on the cards however to Corinthian-Casuals enormous credit they regrouped and were able to keep the score to 3-0 at the interval. The second period was a different story with the home side enjoying the lions share of play throughout and with more firepower up front would have surely narrowed the scoreline which flattered Fisher who, although clearly the fitter, didn't look two divisions higher than the amateurs. In summary I make this another victory for Corinthians in their meticulous build up to the season, roll on Tuesday night and a home friendly with Hellenic League Premier Division outfit Badshot Lea.

Keeper No.1 - Hector has really hit the ground running, sorry sprinting, at Corinthian-Casuals, why don't you come and watch a match this season and see for yourself.
