Thats what you get when you privatise nationalized companies and run organisations for shareholder profit!

What do you want Brown to do - re-nationalize them?

Both the torries and labour have pi$$ed up the wall the benifits of the oil & gas from the north see and the chickens are coming home to roast! - that is if we have any power left that we can afford to cook them with!!!!!!!

Yes.

But the response will be to put up interest rates 'to control inflation'. Now how does that work exactly? Fuel and food are things we have to buy, they are not frivalous luxuries that like greedy children we must be punished for wanting to buy. To a large extent petrol/diesel is now an essential commodity too. Raised interest rates will push mortgages up, putting further pressure on people's pockets. At the same time unemployment will rise and construction will slow to a near halt: more people on benefits when the country - those stiall working - can least afford it.

We've actually started to come down a bit, for now anyway. We've dropped from $4.19 a gallon to $3.88, as of yesterday. Woohooo!
