Been doing a little research, I think it's fair to say that this is arguably the case. 96 goals conceded is a record, we've not been this low down the 'pyramid' since we joined the Isthmian League in the 60's, plus a long list of terrible results...

And yet we're only 3 or 4 players away from having a team capable of challenging for promotion next season. I'd like to see us hold onto Marc Palmer, Mitchell Murphy, Kevin Warren, 'Splinter',Stanley Mark-Dennis,Stuart Maynard,Rob Gillman and Paul Armstrong. If we could somehow persuade a couple of our loan-signings to stay then who knows..It'll be a question of can we afford them, and will they want to play in that division.

I've heard though that we may be seeing a lot of our youth players coming through the ranks, I guess on gates of 50(that's all we can really expect next season) that maybe all we can go with...

I don't think the final part of your message was very nice. Some (most) of the youth coming through are probably better then the main team, so to say "That may be all we can go with..." is unfair to the youth players.

What you should have said is "Hopefully the youth will stand by Enfield, even though the main team has put them down into the 1st Division"[/color]

Sorry, that came out bad. The youth players are obviously of good quality, otherwise they wouldn't have made it to the various cup-finals, but first team football is a big step up and they'll need experienced players around them. On top of that it is asking too much to expect 18 years old and younger to play the whole season. We'd have loved to have seen more of Stanley Mark-Dennis for example, but he was tiring in the games he started, better to bring these guys in for a couple of games, rest and return. I'm all for bringing youth players through though, it's the only way this and many other clubs can survive long term, plus it's great to see local or homegrown talent make it in the team.

Well done lads, and good luck to those playing in the cup-finals on Monday.

as none of us have seen,or know how strong/weak the ryman lst is going to be......or indead who will be playing for Enfield.....lets not make assumptions.

Youth team players may be talented and have good furture's.....but how can you ask 16,17 year old to compete against established non- league sides......2 or 3 in the side, you may get away with, but any more is asking for trouble.

I take it you are assuming that you are remaining in the Ryman next season then? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

i take it you are assuming we will fold. that wont be the case we will still be hear next season in div 1 with our players getting kicked all over the place especially if we have got a lot of young players as div 1 is all about long ball miss out the midfield and get well and truly stuck in

I think lots of people have been waiting a long time - too long, in fact. Just how exciting is exciting ? Sorry, but after the last few years, the tease factor is probably the wrong thing - facts & figures will work better - Be Open & Honest...

Jonny M, if my message came over as a "tease factor" then I apologise unreservedly as that was not my intention.

I agree three years is a long time and as I have said on numerous ocassions over the last 18 months, 'the Club' would love to let everyone know what is happening behind the scenes with regards to a new home. BUT, as you are well aware, everytime intentions have been made public something has scupperred them.

Therefore, it is deliberate that nothing is going to be announced until it is "signed, sealed and delivered".

Rest assurred though, things ARE happening and it is my understanding is that phase 1 has nearly been completed. We all have to be very patiant.

To the doom and gloom merchants, I say this ... Enfield FC is NOT dead.

Ok, we - the first team - have been relegated BUT we will be stronger for it.

Next seasons preparations are already underway... Terry has secured the services of a number of new players, the reserve team (which was sorely missed during the last couple of seasons) has been ressurected and the Youth Section is florishing.

If we all stick together and fight for what we believe then anything is possible....

You were right, though. Anyone who remembers Andy Cope (bloody good reserve who couldn't really cut it at first team level) will probably agree.

Arrrr bless!!! He is so lovely, i think i was a bit too pushy for him. Shame he has a girlfriend though. I bet he won't even recognise me though if he saw me. I am totally different from when he last saw me.

Keep me informed of whether he is staying and when the first lot of games are going to be played and i might come down!!!
