Ebbsfleet Ladies.

Recommended Posts

May I offer my congratulations to Ebsfleet Ladies, who beat Horley Town Ladies FC 1-4 this afternoon at Horley's ground, thereby winning the League.

I managed to catch the last 10 minutes or so after watching eldest Grand-Daughter play for the Horley Town Ladies Reserves.

Ebbsfleet's champagne celebration on the pitch at the end of the game was spectacular.

Wow - That seems quite a step up, Special !

I was impressed with Ebbsfleets performance in the little of the match I saw. Their attack is good. Defence fair. Maybe just a bit of work is needed in mid-field

Zara plays left back. A fast natural left footed player. She's still struggling with fitnes after her long lay-off with foot injury, thankfully worked on very well by our Dorking FC physio.

The reserves are a co-joined team with the folding of the MV Chix, so some time is needed to gel, though all the signs are there. Even with two reserves going up into the Horley 1st team yesterday to play, we still had 14 players to choose from.

END OF HISTORY LESSON !

The next step up from that league is even bigger. As whoever gets promoted from that league could face teams like Charlton Ladies and Millwall Lioneses.

I wish the Ladies from Ebbsfleet well next season !

There isn't enough support for ladies/girls football these days.

  • 2 weeks later...

Zara, (GRAND-Daughter), is 18 and has recently transfered to Horley Town Ladies with some others from the region after our local Ladies team had to fold.

This gives Horley Town a very strong first squad and the reserves normally field a full squad with three or four reserves.

Zara scored on Sunday after being moved forward from left defence after pulling a thigh muscle. I'll be doing some fitness training with her at Meadowbank this evening before Bookham's home game.

I hope your right as I want my team, Enfield Town ladies, to get promoted out of the division but good luck to them next season what ever.

p.s. With some of the strokes that are pulled they will need the luck.

When Enfield Town were up in the Premier league - Southern Division a couple of years ago it was a real struggle as it is like 3 divisions in one. There are 3 or 4 clubs battling for promotion, 3 0r 4 safely mid table every year and the rest in a fight at the bottom and we could never get into the middle section to settle down.

Sorry about the goof, JR, I had misread an earlier post. Seriously though, she'e the right age to consider coming over (and maybe could even wait another year). If someone could get videos of her playing and send them out to schools in the States, someone may be interested. A free education is nothing to sneeze at.

She's quite happy as she is at the moment. She started playing a few years ago in the youth leagues, purely to keep her fitness up. More of a hobby really.

She's at college locally doing the equivalent of an 'A' level course so has no desire to move away from this area.

I know Horley Reserves are always looking for friendlies during the close-season.
