early doors predictions..

Recommended Posts

taking a totally wild guess say the top 8 get made up to the new conf south.. who do you think will make up the top 8 this season..

its not so much the order or even who will be champs.. im more intrested in who will miss out..

canvey

hayes

bedford

sutton

kettering

purfleet

st albans

hornchurch

its not that easy.. once you get your fave 5 in you suddenly realise the teams you will have to miss out.. ive left out grays? k's riccay.. hendon!! and basingstoke who have been consistantly high finishers in the league recently

I'm not sure how many from our League are going into the Alliance, but I will make a wild stab in the dark as to who's going into the Southern Alliance next season...

Top 10. Not in any particular order mind.

Canvey Island,

Bedford Town,

Kettering Town,

Sutton United,

Basingstoke Town,

Hendon,

Hayes,

Grays Athletic,

St. Albans City &....

Billericay Town!!!

I don't honestly think any of the newly promoted teams will have much of a chance of making the Top 10. next season.

I feel us, Bedford, Sutton & Hayes will really go for the Title. Billericay will do surprisingly well as their young players will be well motivated and up for it. Kettering will want to prove that this League is 'poxy'. Basingstoke, Hendon & Grays will make up the rest while EFM will all sign on for St. Albans and their Christmas Bash will see them surge up the League in 2004 to clinch the final spot!! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Ok, ok, Billericay & St. Albans will have outside chances and might just be pipped to the post. Take them out of my Top 10 and you'll have The Eight!

Two Divisions of 24 in 2004/05 then I take it?

So predict those teams that won't be involved in the alliance, ie a bottom 8:

Northwood, Harrow, Heybridge, Braintree, Bognor <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />, Carshalton, Ford, Aylesbury?

Reckon there could be at least one reasonably high profile club failing to make it at the first time of asking....

Could be two Leagues of 12 Canv! That would be 8 from each of the 3 feeders!!!

8 from Ryman & 4 from Doc Martens makes the South, 8 from Unibond & 4 other Doc Martens makes the North. Simple enough but it would only mean 22 games instead of the 46 we would've had in the past two seasons!

10 from each League would make two Divisions of 15, equalling 28 games a season,

12 from each League would make two Divisions of 18, equalling 34 games a season and so on, (I reckon this one sounds more likely!)

This is going to get confusing!

Yeah there are 22 at the minute, they want to make it 24 so I suppose only one team will get relegated next season...which naturally would bugger everything in our League. If the relegated team goes into the North/South there will probably have to be another playoff type thingy to see who gets the equivilant position in the other Region. It would seem silly to have a League of 18 and a League of 19 - What do these Blazers think of eh?

mm any idea once the new set up is sorted what promotion to the conf proper will be.. you'd assume 4 down and 2 up from each (with the second slot being a playoff between 2nd to 5th) but i can see em trying to dream up some 3 up 3 down crap with an north/south playoff and all the associated league changing that will ensue

As I understand it the idea is that the conf and div 1N/S will all be 24 teams. To make up the numbers the DM league will have the "odd" places as they have the most teams with conf graded grounds (or something like that) ie top 16 (or 2nd-16th) go into alliance from Ryman and Unibond, 2nd-18th go into alliance from DM, bottom placed club in conf goes into alliance, winners of feeder leagues go into conf. Understand? No doubt they'll change everything at the last minute.

Promotion could be one of two scenarios - 4 down 2 each up, or 3 down - winners go up, 2nd and 3rd from each div go into playoff semifinals etc.

Cheers Simon, if it stays like that I get what you mean and the 4-down-2-up would be the best scenario.

Well it would be the best, but as I understand it, the current position will be 3 down from the conference, winner of each feeder league promoted and a playoff between the two 2nd placed clubs.

I also thought that the two feeders were going to be 22 teams each, but this is becoming very fluid.

With 44 teams required that would be 14 from the Ryman and the Unibond, 15 from the DM and Tamworth (sorry, team relegated from the conference)

Be a stab in the dark for the entire group Canv

How about the team you would like to see second at the end of next season

CIFC finally making it as first

For me Basingstoke who I always feel are a young side attempting to play it the right way
