Croydon are dreadful and will be getting worse as they have lost one or two of their best players and their chairman/manager/sugar-daddy (Ken Jarvie) is threatening to throw in the towel.<p>The best pub in which to watch the football will be the Spread Eagle in Katherine Street (a good tram ride away).

We all have our teams that we can't beat....<p>And Canvey's is Croydon... he, he, he, he.<p>(I don't know why I'm laughing, Harrow Borough are Billericays bogie team - but we did beat them at their gaff this season). <img src="graemlins/bounce.gif" border="0" alt="bounce" /> <img src="graemlins/affig.gif" border="0" alt="affig" /> <img src="graemlins/bounce.gif" border="0" alt="bounce" />

We had the Harrow Hoodoo for a while but gave them a good 5-0 thumping this season. Mind you that game was special, Harrow had the TV funnyman Terry Alderton in goal. The match report had a great line (not written by me) <p>"and in the final minutes of the game Renner ran in to a one on one and slotted the ball under the on rushing celebrity".<p>We had a problem with Hendon, can never seem to win at their place or Canvey's, last time we did, we won div 1.

Pardon me Lee Farmie but when I used to drink in the Spread Eagle, admittedly a few years back, it was in Portland Rd, about a 10 minute walk from the ground and there are certainly no pubs at all in Katherine Street! I don't disagree though that Croydon are dreadful as is their ground, a bland athletic stadium with no atmosphere, I would rather go down to Mayfields to watch Croydon Athletic (ironic that its plain Croydon who have the athletic stadium) a nice friendly club who are going great this season and scoring loads of goals watch out for them in the Vase as well, they have a nice little ground, can be a bit difficult to find though as its tucked up out the way.
