Worst Season

We all talk about our great acheivements, but what's your worst season.

I have just done a season with Notts County in the premiership and it's been a nightmare.

I had about 3 £20M rated players and the rest were all around the £10M but the form of the individials was terrible. At Xmas I was sittting pretty on the top of the tree but then had only 2 wins in 17 games, got knocked out the FA Cup by 2nd Div Darlington.

By April, I'd had demonstrations every week against me, "experts" were slagging off the players every week, I was 8th in the league (I did reach the champions league semi QF though), I had just won 2 on the spin when I was told I had to beat Middlesborough, I was 1-0 until 85th then lost 2-1 and with 2 games to go, i was sacked for the 1st time ever <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" />

Thing is I had about 8 good players arriving on bosmans in the summer <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

My worst season was on Championship Manager 2. I was Chelsea and had the crappest team Chelsea could put together. Sure the individual players were good, but the team as a whole really sucked. I couldn't buy anyone decent and no 'unattached' players wanted to come to The Bridge.

 

I had players like: Dimitri Kharine, Steve Clarke, Dan Petrescu, (in his first season with Chelsea), Gavin Peacock, John Spencer, Andy Myers, Paul Furlong, Kevin Hitchcock, Dennis Wise etc.

 

I got relegated two seasons on the trot and treading a thin line with 'The Board' in Div 2. All my decent players left as I couldn't afford their wages when their contracts came up for re-newal or they had considerably low get-out clauses in their contracts. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" />

 

I can't remember what happened after that, I think I went out and bought the latest version at that time - 00/01!

The only job i can seem top get now is at Maidenhead who have just appeared in the conference.

Still It'll be a challenge

I'd love for Slough to pop up in the Conference occasionally in CM4. It happened quite often in 01-02. I took them into Division 2 once before being relegated.
