Paul Parker has delved into last years playing staff at his former club Chelmsford City and plucked out the tricky, skilful left-sided winger Austin Berkeley. The 30-year-old began his Football League career with Gillingham, before moving on to Swindon Town and finishing it with a long spell with Shrewsbury Town. He joined Barnet in June 2000 during which time he also had a loan spell with Carlisle United, before signing for the Conference neighbours Gravesend and Northfleet. Berkeley made 34 league and 13 cup appearances last year for the Clarets, scoring on 5 occasions, including the equaliser against The Wings in the 1-1 draw last season. Berkeley becomes ambitious Paul Parker's third high profile signing of the pre-season so far.
