Back page of this week's Enfield Gazette, New deal for Palmer, with some quotes from Terry Back. Apparently Perez wanted to come back!

Quote:
Promising young goalkeeper Marc Palmer is staying with Enfield after signing a new one-year deal.
The 20 year old former Bristol City keeper became first choice for the E's halfway through the last campaign when Frenchman Lionel Perez left, and he will now continue to be the first choice next season-even though Perez was willing to return to the club.
Manager Terry Back said " Palmer is one of the best young goalkeepers I've come across in 20 years of non-league football.
Perez wanted to return to the club, but I felt Palmer had the better future.
He had some stick in his early days but he's come through tremendously and did really well for us.
He loves playing for the club and I've no doubt that he will go back into the professional game at some stage."
Meanwhile pre-season training training will start at the beginning of next month, with reserves and trialists having their first session at 7:30pm on July 3 at Riverside at Turkey Street.
There will be another session on July 5, while the first team begin their pre-season training 2 days later.
The E's are relaunching a reserve side next season and Back is keen to use some of the club's Middlesex Cup-winning under-17 squad.
"They're one of the best under17 sides I've ever seen", he said. " It's all down to the hard work of manager Stel Styliandas and I'll be hoping to put a few of them on pro contracts.
They're all local lads and it will be a great introduction to semi-professional football for them."

MKJ - was true at the time!

Mark's signing for Aveley was only this week. Terry confirmed it to me last night.

Nevermind, we could always try persuading Mr Pape out of retirement, he did it last year for Harrow.
