Enfield 1893 vs Chelmsford City, Saturday 26th September 2009, Goffs Lane, Kick-Off 3:00pm, FA Cup supported by E.On Second Qualifying Round.

Glenn Pennyfather has an almost fully-fit squad to select from as his road to Wembley begins at Goffs Lane, but he’s warned his squad to guard against complacency as they pay a visit to Essex Senior League outfit Enfield 1893 in the FA Cup Second Qualifying Road this Saturday, kick-off 3:00pm.

Left-back Michael Haswell has recovered from a bang to the head sustained during last week’s encounter at Eastleigh to take his place in Glenn’s plans, and the Head Coach revealed: “I can’t stress enough how important it is for us to apply ourselves as we all want a cup run. We will prepare as normal and we’ve done our usual homework on the opposition and they will be given the utmost respect. It will be a tough game as they have nothing to lose and we can go into the match thinking we just have to turn-up.”

The only absentees were to be expected as Ollie Berquez and Simon Glover continue to make progress with their long-term injuries. However, there has been good news this week as Glover was given the all-clear to resume non-contact training, enabling him to work on his fitness, while Berquez is three weeks away from seeing a specialist for an update on how his broken foot bone is healing.

We held them for about 55 mins but the fresh guys that came on for them over ran us. Outclassed in the final half hour in particular I'm afraid . Final score E's 0-5 Chemsford .

Thanks to our stewards Terry & Rob & Co, Sharon & Linda in the kitchen, Jackki & Kim and the girls behind the bar who coped well with a larger than usual crowd .

I wonder what would have happened if your guy had scored in the first half when one-on-one with the keeper. You made life very difficult for us for an hour.

Very much so. A lovely sunny day, an easy, open-topped journey in my wife's MX5, plenty of adjacent parking, a pitch seemingly of putting-green standard, seemingly no injuries or bookings, no inter-fan agro, a good view and a positive result for my club. What else could have improved the day for me apart from real ale in your clubhouse bar! Oh, I almost forgot. After the game Skybet whacked a fair wedge of loot into my account for backing City at 4/7. I think we all have days like this now again which is just as well as it makes up for the others....
