Last Night....

Recommended Posts

As mentioned before, i thought it was a well presented evening by the committee members and guest speakers. I was impressed by what Andy had to say. The man has ambition and thats something i like to hear. After Andys bullish speech u may want to put each way odds on us at 100-1 !!

And for Jessica...U should see a nice starting balance in the Fleet Fund now. I paid this morning.

Having not been on for a while due to exams, other than the obvious 2 disappointing departures im pretty upbeat about this year! We started last year with unknowns and will do the same again. Sorry couldn’t attend last night, prior engagements, but I will be donating funds or whatever else has been mentioned and cant wait to get involved, just as soon as the info is put on here. Well done all.

Unfortunately I was not able to get along last night, but would be grateful if an official of the Trust could publish a note of the proceedings, the constitution of the Trust and its plans and objectives so that I too can make a contribution.

Give us a few days to get our breath back and something will be posted about the meeting, although there will be an article in NLP on Sunday.

Publishing the constitution is I'm afraid not an option at the moment <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> We have a draft which is being checked before it is signed off and sent to the lawyers for registration, but it runs to 24 pages.

Just a very quick report.

Great evening. Great support ( thanks to everyone)

We will as Dave has said do a fuller report later on.

Message for Matt.

Thank you so much. it's at times like this I realise that other people think as much of GNFC as I do.

The nice thing is that you will be around longer than I to keep this great club going and also that I am fortunate enough to meet such nice people through our mutual passion that is football.

Thanks again Matt. Hope to see you at the friendlies. ( if your not on holiday AGAIN)

Impressed by the turnout last night - its nice to know there are so many peple who want to see the Club progress - must have been 150-200? If you can get that many to attend a meeting then you ought to get at least that again on matchday to sign up to the ST.

The guy from Supporters Direct gave an good talk - learnt a lot about the role of a Supporters Trust. Until then, I

always thought Trust movements were for clubs in administration.

Thought you handled the MIC very well Jessica - just glad you didnt start singing! grin.gif

£100,000 is a big target but If everyone pulls together and gives something its more than achievable. I'll be putting my ST membership in the post this weekend.

Very soon Membership Form and SO Form will be on the web. Just complete and send to the Club address.C/O Supporters Trust Secretary.

Membership is £10.00 per year. any other contributions very welcome, as a one payment or monthly payments.

I resent Jim's remark re my singing, it may have been a way to make more money, just to get me to stop!!!

Just for info,I have received some very positive feedback since Thursday evening, with quite a lot of phone calls in support of what we are doing, Chas Webster has got something in the Non League paper for us this weekend and hopefully a follow up piece later in the month. I will be contacted Gsend Reporter on Tuesday re the suggestion of them carrying the form in the paper, in a similar way to the Season Ticket form in the Gsend Express. We can only ask.

If anyone has any other ideas how we can spread the forms around, ( make sure its not expensive) we would love to hear from you.

I was not sure what to expect as I drove to the hallowed turf on Thursday night, on what was a warm and balmy early summer evening.

The early signs were good, as there appeared to be plenty of parked cars around the ground. I parked in the industrial estate, and then made the quick dash across Stonebridge Road into the ground and onwards towards the social club.

Would there be 10 or 20 hardy Fleet souls, or perhaps 50.

No to my pleasant surprise, there were in excess of 150, including club representative in the form of chief Exec, chairman, manager, ex players, and not forgetting the Beast.

There was also local and Kent county council representatives, which has got to be a good sign ( talking of signs when will we see signs around Gravesend / Northfleet / A2 etc directing fans to the ground )

I dunno about you, but I thought the turnout was excellent, the speeches good, and the overall mood very positive.

After 1 night the club will benefit by 6 – 7 K for next season, which is a superb start on the long road to the 100K per season that we need, to help us compete at the top level of non league footie.

Well done to everyone who attended, and special thanks to the ST working party who have got us this far, so quickly.

It is now down to each of us to dig deep, spread the word ( and the forms ) and drag as many people down to Stonebridge Road next season as we can.

The Fleet onwards and upwards - can’t wait for the season to start…

Jessica

You shouldn't have any trouble with getting the Gravesend Reporter/Gravesend Express (aka Kentish Times Group) to put a ST form in both editions.

They were quite brilliant with the Season Ticket Application form - for both papers they simply charged material costs, which amounted to £140 inc. VAT.

When you consider both these papers have a print/distribution run of 10,000 each its well worth doing.

I'm sure some of the money raised by the ST could be legitimately used to do this.

Cheers

Jim
