ETFC Official Statement

At the meeting this evening the Directors drafted a statement which will now be considered by its legal team and we hope that this will be published in the near future. A meeting of the Society members has been arranged for Monday 21st July at the Downs, Brimsdown Sports & Social Club.

[color:"red"] The forum will remain suspended for the time being to protect both the club and those supporters who contribute to the forum from any ramifications.[/color]

So their Forum is closed to protect their club, but their supporters can come on here and say what they like!!!!!

No it's not double standards, it is closed so we can work if we are going to appeal, thus not jepodising any appeal.

Well your version of why it is closed is different to the OFFICIAL reason, as per the ETFC site. They say "to protect the club and fans", yet they don't mind you coming on the EFC site saying things. They are obviously not that worried about the fans.

The board cannot stop the fans coming onto other sites. However, they have to be seen to be trying to protect the fans by trying to stop speculation. Thus the ETFC forum is closed. This is not double standards. The club are just doing what they can to protect both the club and the supporters.

Stop whinning. These forums are for everyone.

Mr. Happy.

Two things, totally un-related to each other:

a). What could be posted on a forum that could possibly prejudice a possible appeal?

B). Who said: "In 1985, blind faith in your leaders, or in anything, will get you killed"?

your answer:

a) I do not know. I am no legal expert. However, if the club's legal advisers have suggested that the ETFC forum should be pulled then they have made the right decision. Don't forget, the ETFC forum is the club's official forum as there are links to it from the club website. It is also very interesting that the local paper in Enfield has printed nothing about what has happened so maybe they are concerned about legal issues as well.

B) I don't know who said this. However, I do not place blind faith in anyone (apart from Mrs Happy, my mum and my dad). I do not know enough about the case to condem the ETFC board and I await their statement and will be at the meeting in a couple of weeks.

Right now, I'm going back to my sardine and tomato sandwich.

Just a small point.

The only person who has suggested that the Club's legal advisers have advised that the forum should be pulled is you. It doesn't say that in the Club's statement. Perhaps you will ask the Board whether the forum was closed on legal advice, or otherwise, at the meeting on Monday.

I'll give you the answer to my second question next week.

Good luck on Monday evening.

Enjoy the sandwich. Any mayo?

I did use the word 'if' but I would presume that the board were advised to remove the forum.

No mayo, just vinegar and lots of black pepper

It's a small point of no consequence, no doubt, but had they received legal advice to close the forum, it would have assisted if they had said so.

Any idea when the Club's statement is to be released? And where?

Very useful contribution, Robert G.

What Gazett?

Any chance of doing one of those things where a hand comes up in place of the arrow. It's HLMT stuff. Some of the guys on our site are good at that sort of thing.

Does this front page story have anything new to say? Any comment in it from ETFC officials?

Yes, there are some encouraging comments from Dave Bryant, and some mention of the effect on the ground improvements. Most of the article looks to be based on the Leyton press release though.
