Poor Match report Merv!

I would just like to say that the match report posted by Merv on the Canvey-Braintree match was very poor and extremely biased.
To say that Canvey dominated the first half was injust. Canvey only dominated the game for a 10-15 minute period where all the damage was done. Apart from this period the game was fairly even, does Merv conveniently forget the save Ashley made in the first half at 1-1? I dont think Merv needs to make excuses for his team either. The most important thing for Canvey this year is to win the league, why couldnt Merv accept that his team were run extremely close by a decent outfit, or is he and the club too arogant now to acknowledge the quality of other non-league teams.
To make one final point, I think you did Crow an injustice and insulted him by classing him in the same bracket as Gary Waters as some one who struggled to make the Canvey 1st team. Crow played approximately 100 games for Canvey during his two seasons there, I think he deserves a little more respect Merv dont you!!

'm sure Merv would welcome constructive criticism, but not pants comments like this. Crow was a popular player at the Lane, but was unfortunately rarely picked for the first team. Wardy even made some complementary comments in the program. I can’t see any disrespect in Merv's report.

Overall Canvey deserved to win by the single goal. Everyone at the game new that, BBC Essex also confirmed this in their post match report and I’m sure that tonight’s paper will 'echo' that as well.

leave the merv alone!! seriously i think mervs match reports are great.. sure you can tell they are written by a canvey fan but he gives credit where its due, does loads of work on getting the opposition details for goalscorers managers and sometimes a bit of history on em as well.. if anyone feels that strongly about it then why not rattle of a quick 500 worder yourself, have it on the website in a couple of hours and we can compare your respective styles....

By what you are saying it was 10 -15 more than Braintree domianted the half.
Also - please tell me who Merv writes for is it Braintree fans or Canvey fans?
If your answer is Canvey, then would you expect the report to be angled towards Braintree??

Another totally biased and one sided report (telll me where I ever promised anythng else!) has now been posted for the Sutton game here
BTW, the report was online before midnight. At the time of writing this message (09:55am on 14/11/01) none of the three Sutton websites have even got the score up.
Braintree's website doesn't have a report from Saturday's game either.
It may be rubbish, Mr leedavo, but it's bloody quick.
Merv CIFC

Merv
you sound like my wife "it's rubbish, but at least it's over quickly!"
Thanks for getting the Sutton report on so quickly as i am currently travelling around the country it is good to hear how the game went in your usual unbiased style.
Sexy football suggests that maybe Jeff and Glen have been taking tips from Ruud Gullet. I am looking forward to seeing another demonstration on Saturday - I just hope Dicksey stops giving away goals, although what else should we expect from a Liverpool and West Ham reject. Maybe Jeff should set his sights a bit higher I have heard that a certain Mr Scholes has fallen out with the management at Manure and that Viera might also be available at the end of the season!
