Sadly not! Dear, Oh dear! What is going on?

I'm pleased for Hatch though as he does have that raw talent that hopefully the full-time game will refine.

The Final Piece in the Jigsaw Martin Allen, in true Canadian Mountie style, finally got his man at tea-time on Wednesday when he signed 6ft 3ins tall Gravesend and Northfleet striker Liam Hatch for a £23,000 fee. The 21-year-old centre foward, who first caught Allen's eye when he played for Gravesend in their 4-1 defeat of Banet at Underhill early last October, is giving up his job as a car cleaner to achieve his ambition of becoming a full time professional footballer. Allen watched Hatch several times last season - he scored against Barnet in the 2-2 draw at Northfleet in April - and, after weeks of negotiations, made him his 11th close season signing and the first to cost a fee. Allen said of the the new boy: "He is a third striker for two places. He is a young, raw talent who is not yet the finished article and will need a lot of hard work. "He will join the squad for training on Thursday and will be in contention for a place against Arsenal like everyone else". Hatch was top scorer in the Kent League when he began at Herne Bay and has been at Gravesend for two seasons. Chairman Tony Kleanthous clinched the deal for Allen with his opposition chairman at Gravesend to provide the manager with the final piece of his team building jigsaw. Hatch said:"I am thankful to Gravesend and have enjoyed my time there - but this is a big break for me to go full time".

If that is the fee that was offered to us I don't see how Andy could have turned it down. Our financial situation means that if we get an offer that high we have to really accept it. I'm just glad barnet didn't come in earlier for him when he hadn't re-signed a contract. Now, we're definetly needing a new striker.

Blimey. My first visit to the message board in nearly a week and a half and this happens. Jeez.

Still, 23 grand for someone that - while he nets a few - is still relatively unproven is probably good business... AS LONG AS WE SIGN ANOTHER BLEEDIN' STRIKER!!!

That was the one player we could ill afford to lose ..

Che , Wilko and now Liam departed and no news of replacements..

Patmore chooses the Margit over us , Steve west goes to the Urchins !!

Who is left out there ? I hope Brian and Andy have it covered.....

good job we seem to have sorted the defence this season ..

Someone give Evans some steroids smartish 'cos I can see him being our main man up front and having to run his little butt off. Anyway, if our midfield is looking solid, why not play Tostao up front. Let's face it, he's normally up that end of the field anyway and he can't tackle to save his life.

Its gutting but 23k is our second highest ever transfer fee but THESE FUNDS MUST be used to buy replacements and we must launch a decent bid for Boylan as no other conference striker seems to want to come to Stonebridge Road....We must replace well.. Perhaps thats why Andy has been looking for a big donkey target man as he always knew Hatch was going. We need Andy or Brian to come on and reassure the supporters that everything will be OK. All i ever wanted was a striker and now we need 2 or 3... crazy.gif

thing is not only have we lost our main striker, weve also lost a player for the future. and even if we get a big-money super striker, he'll be out the door within a couple of seasons due to us not longer being able to afford his big wages. continuity is a rare thing these days, and it sucks. i thought hatch was here to stay for a while, andy gave a lot to him, and so did we, the fans. as soon as we were beginning to reep the rewards, out the door he goes.

as a player he's just not replacable, ive never seen a striker so effective in such an unorthodox way as hatch. his determination, his work rate.

if you read this forum liam thanks for the memories

you were always up for it

that goal in the last game of the seaon is one i'll remember

good luck in the future and please get a small injury which keeps you out from playing us next season, you can always save yourself against our rivals for promotion!

do we get a percentage of any future fee as i'm sure you'll make it big time?

best wishes

I am sorry but at the moment Patmore and Stadhardt look a decent forward line to me next to Budge and Evans....

I hope Andy can give us some positive news of our forward line soon..

oi look at what we started with last season

booth and wilkins for up front

evans and budge are much better class

they have never been given the run they deserve

yes we need another two

just trust andy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Truly spectacular at the end of last season. I wil always remember the moment he scored we went mental then all hugged him, one of the best days of my life. I just fear for our defenders next season. We all know how strong he was.

Good luck Beast
