Quite frankly this is becoming a bloody joke!

One of the few players the club has got with conference experience is allowed to go, not to a league club which perhaps you could understand, but to a rival club in the same league.

Some weeks ago the Gravesend Reporter quoted Ford as saying that supporters would be "surprized" when the new signings were announced, or words to that effect. Well Andy the only surprize is that once again the club have not failed to dissapoint.

It doesn't matter whether we think we are favourites to sign someone, the truth of the matter is that the club are unable to turn that favourites title into reality whoever the particular player is.

The pre-season friendlies have started and the club still does not have a settled squad of players, it looks like we will still be trialling unknowns from the whatever league well into the start of the season.

Relegation.........no wonder we are favourites.

What has really irked me about the whole situation has been Craig Wilkins departure. His deal with Dover was all signed and sealed before the season ended yet he is just the sort of player Andy is looking for to play up front. Also, yes signings have slightly disappointed as at the Trust meeting i clearly remember Andy saying to the crowd "Lets make the next 3 signings big ones"..As yet, all the big names have gone out of the Fleet exit door bar Francis.

Apologies Dave for any offence caused - the Barnet report of the signing and your comment that there is more to this than has been announced, has no doubt left most second guessing the situation - my comment had question marks after it as it was clearly just a thought.

I'm glad thats not the case and the matter hasnt been decided over Andy's head.

Once again (grovel, grovel) my apologies.

The club is having an e-mail problem today and so I will have to pick it up when I get to the ground this evening and paste it in when I get home.

Sorry about that, but it's just one of those days.

It's in the "relegation"thread.

While I have a lot of sympathy with the dissappointment felt by everyone, let's not get too negative.

Andy has proved to be pretty cute in the transfer market in the past, considering the financial constraints he's under, let's see what's in the press release ,i'm sure Andy is as aware as we are of our lightweight strike force, but does anybody really expect the club to turn down an offer like this?

My only problem would be if there is a lack of a sell on clause, like the Bullard sale, and if obviously adequate replacement(s)are not signed.

For now let's keep the faith and give Andy our support.

After the morning coffee, the reality has set in..We can buy some bloody good strikers with 23k. I think the deal was too good to turn down.

Well, yes Matt, it's hardly surprising that the club accepted the offer with such a large fee involved, and I agree that £23,000 is a tidy sum considering that Liam has had just two seasons with us (and has hardly bagged a hatful of goals) since his exploits in the Kent League. It's just the timing of it that is the problem. All good strikers willing to move clubs this summer have probably already done so, leaving us with the lower quality remnants for the start of the season.

Yes, the sum of money should be very useful in the long term, but whether or not Andy will be able to spend it wisely for this season remains to be seen. Much has been made of Liam's apparent tendency to go AWOL and the fact that he doesn't always finish as well as he hares around the pitch, but I still don't think that at this stage, with seemingly no ready replacement available, we could afford to lose him. This isn't a criticism of the club though - they really couldn't afford to reject such a handsome offer. I just hope Andy proves me wrong (as he admittedly has many times in the past blush.gif) and comes up trumps in the transfer market.

Well said,i think your absolutely right. It's just annoying for the fans where they see all of our best players leaving and the replacements(or lack of!),no offence to them, not being proven,or too old.Let's hope andy has something planned. Lets all get behind the team and andy tonight!

C'mon fleet!

All I can do is stand by my comments from a couple of years ago that Liam is/was a fine prospect PROVIDING he had the neccessary application (ie: He learnt about how to be a footballer.)

I can only speak for myself, but I am reserving judgement on some of the players movements this summer.

However, on this occasion if you are upset that we are losing a player who refused to play if he was in the slightest bit injured, was a poor trainer and in my opinion often showed the club and officials and therefore us, the punters, scant respect, then I think that Andy and Brian have done a good bit of business. I will miss his Mum and Dad being around though, top people they were.

I could be wrong but lets see what success he achieves at Barnet.(and I hope someone with his talent does, despite what I have said.)Its not sour grapes its just that speaking as someone who had limited ability, it really frustrates me when I see someone who doesn't make full use of his God given talent. If he gets 30 odd goals this year good luck to him I will be happy to say I was wrong.

But I do agree WE MUST have someone signed who can put the ball in the net with the money from this one!

I bumped into Liam and his girlfriend on the way to work about 5.30pm.

He will be at the Millwall game (unlike myself) but will obviously not be playing.

Liam wanted full-time football, the club wanted the cash. The deal was done chairman to chairman with Andy in full consultation.

We should be grateful of the £23,000 - at the end of the season he was going to leave for nothing! (Liam's words.)

While I am sad to see Liam leave, I also believe that £23k was too good an offer to turn down. Liam wants to persue his career full-time and I don't think that can really be held against him. I wish him good luck in the future. Possible replacements anybody? I'll start with Brett Angell if we are looking for a target man. Recently released by QPR, he turned doewn a move to Linfield in the Irish league. Perhaps we can get Pat Gradley to sell the club to him (not literally!!). Mind you, that's if Dagenham havn't signed him yet!!!

Seeing the press release, its definitely good business for us - alright, only £17 K up front, and part of that goes to Herne Bay, but having the additional appearance related fee, plus (potentially most important of all, if Liam progresses as well as Mr Bullard, or even better, as well as Malcolm Christie after his move from Nuneaton), the sell on clause could be ultra beneficial to the Fleet.

I too hope that Liam doesnt spoil his progression through failings in his temeperament(and not just from the viewpoint of the possible financial benefits we gain if he does well). He's clearly basically a decent lad - witness his appearance at the launch of the Fleet Trust, and other references previously to helping out at local charity events, etc, and if he keeps his head screwed on straight, he has the opportunity to achieve something with his football career too.

Dont waste that chance, Liam
