Lets get Real

Recommended Posts

I am somewhat disappointed at some of the posts re last nights game and the sale of Liam Hatch.

I actually watched all of the game, unlike some who have posted, because is they did not realise that Lee Turner played the whole of the game, then they may well have spent too much time in the Bar.

He was outstanding in the first half, not so much the second, but the team was changed round to ensure most players got a part game.

These are friendlies after all, a time when the Manager tries out players in different positions, that's why Shearer played part of the game up front as he did sometimes for Margate, OK it wasnt too great but at least Andy has some idea about that, for future games.

I was fairly impressed with everyone's level of fitness, most looking very sharp, no one carrying weight and everyone but everyone committed ( good to see Matt Lee) after his long spell on the injury list, even though Dennis Wise did his best to put him back on the sick couch.

The sale of Liam is good business for the Club and does enable Andy to buy in, lets give him more than twenty four hours to look around shall we.

I have no more real knowledge than you, but this deal was not done over Andy's head that I can assure you and perhaps we should at least give the Club credit for having a contract with Liam so that we did not lose him for no fee as with Mark Bentley who would only agree to a one year when he signed.

I think more worrying is everyone saying that people will not join the Trust, or are we wasting our money.

The Trust was never a quick fix for anything and players will come and go, I was upset when Paul Booth left last season, but it was for the best and he has done well and by staying up last season so did we.

Last nights performance was by far one of the best bunch of players I have seen in pre-season friendlies, apart from an out and out striker although our goal was a cracker.

Andy does have time to look around and at least we have some money to back the looking up with.

The Trust although it will eventually buy shares and help the Club financially have already made an impact,

The ground is looking very smart with loads of cleaning and painting, the players shower has been part re-tiled, all the dressing rooms have been cleaned and re-painted, lights have been fixed, the office has been re-vamped, the bad sheets on the roof are going to be replaced, all the signsare being re-painted ( even my hut has been painted)the telephone system is being sorted out.

All these things go to make the Club run more smoothly, the fans get a better deal when the pay over the turn-stile,

What we do need is Members of the Trust encouraging more people to join not saying I can't see anyone wanting to join, with strength in numbers, comes more money, then and only then can we support the Club with the large amounts needed to help them survive and compete with some of the bigger fish in the pond who are snapping up all the players we want, by offering more cash per week and more goal bonus payments.

The Trust committee have worked wonders in just over a month ( yes thats all the time we have been officially running) we are striving along with the Club to encourage large sponsors to get involved, how can we encourage them that we are worth investing in if our own fans do not seem to think we are!!!

I am very optimistic about the coming season, we must trust Andy and his team to do the very best they can for GNFC, but we must also do our part, and yes everyone is entitled to an opinion, but if it is negative even before we start our fixtures perhaps you should come dwon the ground tomorrow and help out with some of the jobs that still needs doing, and work off your frustration on the other end of a paint brush, Commander Bond makes a mean cup of tea and the supporters down helping will cheer you up and get you ready for the season ahead.

Sorry is such a long winded response, but I thought I would like to put the position of the Trust forward, after all we are all Supporters of the Club.

Jessica, as always a pleasure to hear your views. I was as you know one of the biggest critics last night not of the team but the press release. As i have told u before i have put money into the supporters trust because i believe in it for the fans which we all are and because of your sterling efforts. I retract what i wrote yesterday about investing in the trust as it is OUR club and we all want this club to continue regardless.

I still find the comments regarding the press release pretty pathetic even today and i stand by what i wrote. Everyone shot down Mr.Anonymous yesterday for saying we should be realistic. I think he wasnt for off the mark with what he wrote which is why i get so upset with the comments in the press release after hearing the bullishness of Brian and Andy at the Trust meeting. We need realistic short term targets not wild comments that the next 3 signings will be big ones.

Rant over again.

Wow, theres a fresh coat of paint about the place, new tiles up & your huts been re-vamped!! F*ck me thats grrrrrrrrreat news for the club!!bloody marvellous.........'The telephone systems being sorted', all the better to hear other teams goals being announced.

Whats the point of having a ferrari body kit if you only have a skoda engine??!!

How very un-reasurring this all is for investors & supporters a like. I'm sure when people put money in the club, they didn't expect it to pretty much go on what can only be described as bottom of the list necessities...Its all b*llshit. Sorry Jessica, you seem a kind hearted genuine lady, but that doesn't mean people have to agree with the way things are currently working. I thought the Chairman was an investment 'expert?? does he have any input on what the money goes on?? At least you have independant accountants at the club? oops, no you don't.....

p.s everybody is entitled to their own opinions, but if you wanna ban me for putting that across, you can go f*ck yourselfs.

the end.

The reason volunteers are doing all this basic stuff is so the club doesn't have to pay a professional to come and do it and therefore, keeping more funds in the kitty for important items like players! It may seem irrelevant to you that people have beemn painting, weeding etc. but would you prefer to come to the ground and see it as it was at the end of the last season,ie really tatty. It's the only ground we've got, you know, so hats off to the people who are trying to make it look half decent. Why don't you give it a try instead disappearing up your own backside.

I'm not even touching along the lines of volunteers. The points I made were with regards to examples of how the trust is helping already. Your all too 'nice' for your own good. None of you have any balls about you..Your [****!!****] squandering the money on crap

The volunteers are an integeral part of the Trust. You really don't know what you're talking about.

Do you know what the money has been spent on? Do you know what the money is going to be spent on? How you can say that the trust is squandering the money is beyond me.

As for the trust having no balls, which is a comment that baffles me, what would you spend the money on?

forget about the volunteers, i haven't once mentioned them, I have every respect for them. Its eveident the club hasn't really spent the money wisely. It begins with p and ends with layers.

ah, so it turns out you were talking rubbish? What a shock!

You said "The points I made were with regards to examples of how the trust is helping already" and "Your [****!!****] squandering the money on crap" (your spelling error, not mine).

You were not talking about the club, you were talking about the trust. A subject I think you know nothing about (one of many I would hazard a guess).

And as you have no idea about the amount of time, money and effort that a lot of people have put in for nothing more than to help the club that they love, I think you should shut your mouth about it.

I think making the ground a better place is a great idea.

Lets face it, players are going to have a look at where they are goign before they go there, and if for instance a player is in a toss up between two clubs ie, Us with Rusted through roofs to our stands or say margate, who are building a new ground, where would you go?

The point I was trying to make regarding volunteers was the money they are saving the club so it doen't have to fork out for painters, pointers, drain un-blockers etc and therefore, not 'squandering' cash on essential maintenance. As for being 'too nice' , I think you'll find that's the case in most non-league and many league clubs too. You don't have to be nasty, biggotted a*sehole to be successful. People co-operate better when they get on together. Ok?
