According to the Non-League Paper's website Kevin Budge has re-signed for Heybridge Swifts!

Well, Matt, he may well be better but we haven't signed him yet, and frankly things are beginning to get a bit desperate. With just one specialised striker in the squad at the moment (i.e. Evans), I find it hard to believe that Budge has left because of a lack of first team opportunities at Stonebridge Road - surely as things stand he's guaranteed a place in the first team here!

Okay, so Andy has promised developments next week in the hunt for a striker, but surely now delivering even one forward will not be enough, in terms of strength in depth. It makes you wonder why we casually let Che go at the start of the close season, without having a replacement for him in place.

I think that the key word in all this seems to be 'casual'
Was reading football365 yesterday and there are loads of Man U fans on there saying that United have been embarrasing in the transfer market this summer regarding Beckham and Ronaldinhno.
Hmm, they don't really know they're born do they?
All of this uncertainty about our lack of front line will filter through the conference and teams will come to Stonebridge Road next season expecting an easy ride.
Granted, the defence is looking solid but it's all about hitting the back of the opponents net really.
Please sign a decent striker Mr Ford!

Felt sorry 4 Kevin Budge last season he never got a decent run in the side and given the chance he would probably scored a few goals 4 us never mind his gone now but this Ben Abbey sounds quite handy.

The trouble is Ben is another short [****!!****]...obviously that doesn't mean he can't score goals but it does mean that he isn't going to be the big target man we've been looking for ( Patmore Angel etc )
I think the lesson we all learned last year is that we need a lot of cover in all positions, with the number of forwards who have gone we are probably looking for at least three replacements.
I could see Ben as a replacement for Che but he won't replace Liam.

It's a shame to see Budge go.
Still at least we got our cash back.
