everyone knows canveys pitch is in sarfend!!.. but that is how supporter bases get bigger gaz..i dont care why they become canvey fans as long as they stay that way...now that is the big question.. will we see your man at grays on a tuesday night when its pissing down and we have lost 4 on the spin .. mmm ... still having said that, even occasional extra home fans all help, not many people can make every game

Sounds a bit like all the other 'fans' that seem to come out of the woodwork, for our F.A. Cup & Trophy games.
What I would like to know, is why do they not come back to league games.
Don't get me wrong, it is nice to have them - but why do they hide for 95% of our games?

Canv, will you see him at the Grays game? NO!!!
All he knows about Canvey is it is an island somewhere south west of his home in Leigh.
I'm not jealous (honest). He is such a typical "ooo a local side is doing well, I'll mention their name, Spurs wide boy", you can have him.
He will never go to a Canvey game 'cos as he has said today, "Well, it ain't reall football is it. Just a bunch of has beens going for that immpossible dream but hey, if they do well, I might just see a couple of games".
At the mo, he has just worked out that I support Billericay and that they are in the same league as Canvey and has chanted something at me which I do not care to mention, so if you will excuse me, it is Monday and I deserve a little sport!!!!
 mad.gif" border="0 mad.gif" border="0

I never said Canvey / Grays wasn't an attractive fixture. Any Essex local derby is an interesting fixture.... oh hang on, Purfleet v Heybridge..... now that is not an interesting fixture.....

Barintree v anyone..............

(lets see if we get a rise out of that one!!!)

Third division club, Carjam. Get real and look at your real rivals!!!
And by the way, I thought Romford were in Greater London? Everytime I go under the M25, travelling from Romford, outside Brentwood, on the A12 there is ther sign which says "Welcome to Essex".
So they can't be an Essex club.
Or can they?

Romford is not an Essex club and carjam is living in cloud dreamland if he thinks they have any future. Essex is a better place without them.
We used to have two places we disliked going to - Romford and Wealdstone. Our lads like a drink, like to make some noise, but they are good footy fans and don't want trouble. We usually make friends wherever we go, even Billericay (both clubs have the occasional idiot, but it is usually sorted out by the more sensible fans). Both Romford and Wealdstone was a tetchy affair with local idiots ready to mix it.
Pity because at both those clubs we managed to make some good mates. Grim Jim from Wealdstone was always a good lad and enjoyed a bit of dicussion board banter.
Merv CIFC

Carjam's on a wind up, who's biting today??
Of course when someone asks me think of an Essex club I often instinctively think 'Romford' or maybe not.....
Sure, history is all well and good, but in non league there are many different things that can go 'belly up' that the fans subside away. Romford are a spent force, I've nothing against them though.
What's my point? (something I often ask) You have to judge a team on the 'here and now' and not the past. Enfield, Kingstonian and Aylesbury were very big forces in non-leauge, they could be again, but at the moment no one will disagree with me when I say they are nowhere near close to the teams they were.

They changed the boundaries 40 years ago, Middlesex as a county dissappeared into Greater London as did chunks of Kent, Essex,Herts and Surrey. All these places all within the M25 have more in common with London than they do with the shire counties they used to fall within. On the Essex side, Dagenham became part of the London borough of Barking and Dagenham, Romford - Havering, though i believe Collier Row whO Romford really are may be in barking & D borough as well. What perpetuates the idea these clubs are from modern day Essex is they were never removed from Essex football competitions nor has the post office altered their records either. The folk of dagenham do not send politicians to Essex county council in Chelmsford to make their decisions, they are not technically Essex though the people in those London boroughs hate the idea of being Londoners and not from Essex, Kent etc. I don't know why they hate being Londoners coz they sound and act like them.

Going back to the original point though.......
There will obviously be a greater interest this season in the Ryman League in this area after the successes last season of Canvey and with many of the Essex Clubs fairing well in the Ryman Premier and the FA Cup at the moment. I believe this is a great opportunity to get the attendances up through the poaching of Premiership and League football supporters - like myself - who are totally cheesed off with exorbitant prices, overpaid so-so players who don't really give a **** about the team they play for, and **** kickoff times in the fulltime game.
Maybe more initiatives should be introduced by the clubs to milk this greater interest.
Gazza BTFC - why don't you invite the Spurs fan who works with you to the Boxing Day clash between the two clubs?. Its at your place - so he might not get lost finding the ground!.

essex clubs

1.colchester

2.sarfend

3.daggers

4.canvey

5.chelmsford

6.billericay

7.braintree

long term chelmsford have the most potential to make it and last as a league team

unfortunatly for the next 5 years canvey will be the ace faces and challenge the daggers..braintree will do well .

ricay will be destined to spend thier life wallowing in ex vase glory.. all teams from kent will become part of some northern french league as they are basically pointless

Gullable, I just cant believe what im hearing..find a descent club with a long term future or you wont be watching the non-league game for long.
Romford are an Essex side. Romford is still part of Essex as well as part of Greater London. Welling are a Kent side in the same respect. Can anybody please tell me how many times Romford have won the Essex Senior Cup, oh and wernt they playing Canvey in the Essex senior league just a few years back.
One thing I wont do is run down any Kent sides and you Essex chaps should leave your own sides alone. After all when things eventually change and the power balance shifts I have a [pretty good idea who you will be watching.
Car Jam
