OH MY GOD!!!!

Daggers are not an Essex team as Romford are not either.
And seeing that Andy of CIFC wishes to ask the question about only one team in Essex, see CANV's list but exclude the Greater London teams.
Merv, I'm a bit dissapointed in your assessment of Romford and of Wealdstone.
And I do know there is history behind the Canvey Island / Wealdstone rivary, especially when you got promoted.

Re the Is Romford in Essex debate - just to complicate things further, when i was working in Romford (up to September) I read in the local rag a proposal that Romford would "leave" Havering and return to Essex Believe there will be a vote later this year. Personally however I reguard anything inside the M25 as not "proper" Essex...

So, the secret about the Independent State of Canvey is out. Shame really because all you less fortunates from Billericay, G&N and BTFC will all be flocking to emigrate to the island, once you realise that we have income tax at only 5%, alcohol and tobacco carries no tax at all (hence our 50p pint in the club bar), all the state brothels are subsidised and we have achieved 100% unemployment. A terrific state, in all senses of the word.
Merv CIFC
BTW Jeff King makes a much better president than your Tony Blair!

When everyone on the continent has got euros in their pockets and not just on their bank accounts as now, it would encourage football fans from our neighbouring countries to pop into a Ryman or feeder league game, if the entrance, programme, cafeteria and bar prices were advertised in euros as well as pounds sterling.
There are still five weeks to prepare for the big day!

Why would we want to go to The Republic Of Canvey?
Due to global warming and the rising seas, it ain't gonna be there in ten years time (the whole of Essex cheers). The new beach will be located at Basildon (and still no one will go there).
But Jeff King may double as a small land mass if he floats on his back and someone anchors him down (not a pretty sight. Oh, I'm sorry, wrong web site. I thought this was www.fat.and.*******.com).

Jeff will feel insulted by being reffered to as a "small land mass".I feel that he would rather think of himself as a banana republic

Some of you just don't get this London and the home counties thing.

It goes like this. If you pay rates to a shire county and your district is administered by Kent county council then you are in Kent for example. Bromley are a London Borough so Bromley FC are a London club. Though historical ties (from before London grew so big)means that Bromley are still considered by Kent FA as being under theirs and not Londons jurisdiction. That doesn't mean that Bromley is in Kent. Same story with the other home counties, Essex with Romford and Daggers, Surrey with Sutton etc etc.
The Post office have also added to the confusion. they intended everyone to use postcodes so when the mtropolitan areas of the home counties were switched to the GLC nearly 40 years ago they didn't bother switching places like Romford or Bromley out of the counties they formerly were in. We're supposed to use postcodes not counties on our mail now.
My problem with all this comes about throught our county stations and newspapers in trying to grab a larger audience are covering non-league London clubs like Daggers to the detriment of those actually in the county. There are no end of London radio stations to cover these clubs, why do we have to share our county stations with them when we have enough of our own "real Essex clubs to slice the cake on already?if the folk of Romford want to vote on whether they prefer to be administered from Chelmsford than under Ken livingston thats their choice, but surely we in Essex should have a vote to reject them as well.

The people in Dagenham definitely are Londoners, they sound and act like East enders, thats my observation. Cor! blimey, me old coksparra wot ya fink abowt that?

Click on the link (or copy and paste)and see a map of London. It certainly shows Bromley and Romford outside of Kent and Essex
http://school.discovery.com/homeworkhelp/worldbook/atozpictures/mp000413.html
[ 24 November 2001: This message was edited by: Iron knob ]

Something seriously wrong with that lost posting by Iron Knob. I've read it and re-read it, but it doesn't mention Canvey once. Perhaps Canvey is there in code somewhere, but I can't break it, not without an enigma machine.
Could it really be a post that ignores Canvey?
My God, the end of the world is nigh. Come on Frenchy, help us. With your moderators hat on, open up the posting and edit the word Canvey in there somewhere. Please.
Merv CIFC

I wouldn't trust that map - since when has the M25 been green - I can assure you that it is a sort of grey colour, and where is that red line, as you go into London - I have never seen it painted accross any roads.
Wealdstone Fan

Canv, you missed one off your list. 'Arla.
And talking of Essex Clubs, although I'm not certain why I'm admitting this (probably because I'm an Essex boy myself), but Stortfords pitch is itself crossed by the County Boundary (approx 2/3 Herts, 1/3 Essex). The only problem is that the players keep smacking themselves on the 'Welcome To...'sign.

The Essex end is the one near the services, motorway and end of the runway, the Herts end is near the woods and the golf course. Needless to say my seat is close to the half way line which is of course in Herts. The Essex treacles stand in the Essex end watching the planes taking off and dream of being in Ibiza.
