A Few Points

Recommended Posts

1)Where is everybody. Still celebrating in Canvey I guess. Is it trus that only 35 fans made the trip to Wigan

2)Why are there so many polls on this board and more to the point whats the point in voting when the board is directly related to one clubs website. More to the point do the Canvey fans want us posting here. They are in a perfect world, why should we interfere.

3)Are Sky (or is it the BBC) going to put blinkers on the TV cameras at the up and coming FA Cup tie so that the rest of the world dosent see the state of the stadium.

4) Has the league become a two horse race, my opinion is most certainly not. How many of you are willing to Concede that your team no longer has a chance.

5)As Aldershot did such a good job on Saturday is George Borg forgiven.
Car Jam

Carjam - 'Everyone' most probably anticipated your arrival back on this forum.

Still got your 'I hate Canvey' head on then?

Don't you think people are getting just about fed up with your same old anti-Canvey FC digs.

Its all becoming a bit boring now you know!!
Still, I would guess your main aim was to get another long thread going.

Welcome to Canveys discussion board Carjam. smile.gif" border="0

(1) It was more like 500 fans that attended the JJB,

(2)most fans,(with the exception to Wigan), are happy for us. "Perfect world", not quite but very close!

(3) BBC are in negotiations with the makers of the Matrix to see if they can't superimpose Old trafford onto parklane to ease any suffering on the viewers.

(4) I agree with you on this one!
(5) I think the Fleet were unlucky Saturday!

Welcome back Carjam - we have missed you wink.gif" border="0
Poke you nose in as much as you want... All fans are welcome here - even G & N.
Why so many polls - give them a new toy and people will play with them....
Only 35 people - don't believe everything you read - four supporters coaches went - all full, plus many cars.
Two horse race - may be - are G & N still in the race then?
Oh and the BBC - the BBC will actually be showing the Wigan game, just super-imposing the correct colours on the other players - so I can tell you now that you will see Gregory score in the 88th minute.

Carjam, keep having a pop at Canvey. I might save them from dissolving into a sticky mess of smugness. They only stopped posting on the NLOTN messageboard because they were brought woen a peg or two. Sulking.
I'm horrified to announce that my team lost at Corinthian Casuals in the League Cup tonight BUT!!! Canvey Island when did YOU last beat Whyteleafe?

Hey Carjam
Only one of your questions may apply to the third placed club. Nobody at Braintree unlike the imposter BTFC club 20 miles to the south believed they'd win the premier title on the basis of favourable early results. Do we concede we have no chance of winning it - No (until its impossible). Do we think we've got a realistic chance of winning it? Again the answers - no. As I forecast at the start of the season, you can all get used to us being around. So far we've played all the top clubs away and lost, so in some ways it appears we have a kinder second half to the season to look forward to.
We're a progressive club, but unlike our millionaire cousins on the marshes we have to achieve what we do the normal way. Don't get me wrong I wouldn't object to the idea of Jeff King becoming a major sponsor at our place (it'd be money better spent)if he so chose. The proviso being we keep Ben Embery and the board as it is.
Well done Canvey, at least you have team spirit at the club to go with your dosh, who'd bet against you taking Northampton out? Not me thats for sure! You could say they're a load of cobblers going by their present league position.

[ 21 November 2001: This message was edited by: Iron knob ]

Woo hoo, three of my fav's in one message thread, what can I say.

"It's my birthday surely".
Carjam, keep it up mate. Nothing worse than a smug "Scummer". Think on this, will the rest of the BBC viewing public be impressed with "The Beach" at CI? But I dirgress into jealousy here. Well done to Canvey Island. I saw the high lights and all I can say is "How fat is Gregory?" I think Canvey should be known as the Tellie Tubbies after their BBC spectacular (actually, in the spirit of rivalry, I shall watch the game with one half of me wishing 'em luck and the other half of me ready to **** myself with laughter should they get beat on national TV - sorry lads). Considering that I now have four new Canvey fans here in the office that don't even know where the ground is and struggled to name the scorer of last weeks goal (success is a strange animal. Brings out the "true" supporter). Looks like we're looking at the Manchester United syndrome for Canvey supporters world wide!!! I'm lucky at the mo, I banter with 'em but they are sooooooooo thick that they haven't worked out that Billericay are in the same league. He, he, he. I bet you Canvey fans are all proud of 'em.
Iron Knob - third in the league. Well done. What can I say, except it ain't over until the fat manager sings. We all have got a long way to go still and the most successful BTFC in the past 25 years, 20 miles south of you will still end up higher than you.
Got nothing to say about Gravesend 'cos when we played them it was men against boys and they well deserved their win. On the basis of that, I wish 'em well.
My money is still on Aldershot though. As I've said it is early "doors" and we have all that winter weather to contend with!!!

I saw it straight away, but Ian didn't get much quality sleep at the weekend as he was slightly inebriated.
Have to agree with all your other comments (Ian's as well, I thought he was quite 'on-form' today - just look at his posting below. Spot on!) and I think there is a lot of jealousy out there at the moment, due to our success. I know that most of it is tongue in cheek and simply a wind-up but one or two of the snides are a bit below the belt.
Good thing is that Canvey fans have the ability to laugh at themselves stealing much of other people's thunder.
All this success is great for Canvey and great for the Ryman League. Just hope the PFA strike over TV rights doesn't put the mockers on our 9th Dec. bash.
Merv CIFC
[ 21 November 2001: This message was edited by: Merv CIFC ]

In that case CANV I shall be looking very closely at the crowd figure. Will the Julian Dicks thing last or not. You will probably get some away fans for that one and I think your gonna loose. It's not often im wrong. Seriously now it's about time your perfect world both here and on the pitch fell apart. It starts now.
