Canvey do well in the F A Cup and we all get on our soap boxes and give it large about their ground being not up too much, Jeff King being a "suagr daddy" and Canvey's players being "sad old donkeys". Are they the only team in the Ryman Premier League worth talking about?<p>It is so sad (me included, I have to say but in my defence, they are our only rivals to note).<p>Lets just get talking about another subject...

Hey come on chaps, what makes you think I don't like Canvey. Where better to play such a big TV game than a holiday resort. Forget Blackpool, Torquay or Southend after the right TV coverage Canvey could become the new Ibiza. Plenty of flat terrain for an airport. Soccer fans from all over the world could come and dig for football boots. Recent ones only of course.

And I take it that's true then about superimposing a stadium. They have to do something. I would be so embarressed if I were a Canvey supporter. And what about the crowd. Whos gonna pay money when its on live TV. After all this is Canvey. Seriously now you have to switch stadiums. Home support is going to be a further embarrasment for you.<p>I accept that more fans went to Wigan than I have read on the message boards. Clearly bad loosers at the JJB. You have plenty of rivals, if you dont think so then think of the Beazer Homes. It may put you off the thought of promotion. I have been a bit unkind to Canvey. Sorry Canvey fans. Do forgive me. Im just so jelous. With you playing in Essex, having such a super stadium, having superstars like Julian willing to turn out for you, having all that money and having so much success and so many supporters. Thing is, love us or hate us (most of you fall into the second category, I guess) you just can't stop talking about us. The interest that fans from across the whole of Rymanland show in Canvey is extremely flattering. Remember, there is no such thing as bad publicity!<p>One of the reasons this discussion board was set up was because the original Canvey forum - Below Sea Level - was regularly the host of opinions, comments and insults from a much wider communtity than just the island. Farnborough and Aldershot fans regularly used BSL to have a pop at each other. Obviously, our board, the Canvey Island board was tagged as a 'Favourite' on their browsers.<p>It's Canvey that you all hold in (secret) respect and you just can't stop talking about us. Deep down you are desperately interested in our exploits and you just have to keep coming back to see how the CIFC related threads are progressing. Sure, you put on a persona of insults and derisory comment, but one or two of you should be brave enough to admit, you admire us and what we have achieved (with or without Jeff King's money).<p>Personally, I couldn't tell you a single fact about Billericay, G&N or Braintree; not because they are not good, successful football clubs with a band of great fans, but I just ain't interested in them. I have no desire at all to research their exploits and comment on them.<p>But so many of you are fixated with Canvey. (So you ought to be.) You might reply by the dozen to this message. You might insult me, tell me I'm talking b******s, but you will come back and continue this thread which, like so many others, starts off with one subject but ends up on the only one you all know is important - Canvey Island.<p>Make my day.<p>Merv CIFC

i should think with the cup games last year (11,000 at southend, trophy) and this year (t.v. cash etc)canvey must be one of the few clubs in the league to make any money....... it seems to me that poor old canvey are the only team to try to struggle through the last season and this without a sugar daddy.....we are competing in a league of sugar daddied teams , its not fair!!!!

I think we all know Canvey could be just 1 game away from being knocked out the AXA but you cant blame us for enjoying it while it lasts :

but in reality we are in with a real chance of going through to round 3 and getting a premier league side, thats dreamland stuff for any non league side, it just so happens we may just do it.
