Canvey Island FC are delighted to announce the signing of legendary centre back Steve Ward from Blue Square South side Chelmsford City. Wardy originally joined The Gulls back in 1996 from Grays Athletic, going on to play near on 500 games for the club up until his departure in 2006. During this time he wone numerous cups and medals with the club, including the FA Trophy in 2001 and the Ryman Premier League in 2004, as well as being capped by the England Non League side.

Steve once again won the Ryman Premier League in 2008 with Chelmsford, and rejoins Canvey for the upcoming campaign having enjoyed 4 years at Melbourne Park.

Its was superb to see Wardy walk into the clubhouse after training today.

Excellent work by Batchy to get Wardy to return!
