Ryman standard

Looking at reports in the local papers regarding Canvey's current unbeaten run, and bearing in mind that Gravesend are still hot on our tails, could I ask the regular users of this site to throw away all loyalties for a moment and say if they think that the standard of the Rymans Premier is not all that good.

By rights any team that can go 26 games unbeaten should be head and shoulders clear at the top. The fact that we are not must reflect well on Gravesend(all credit to them), but for two sides to keep on winning week in week out surely reflects badly on the rest.

Be honest, how many times have you looked at the fixtures to see Canvey versus xyz(that's a win for us), Gravesend versus xyz(oh dear! looks like another three points for them).

If Canvey and Gravesend beat each other in the league and win all their other games(somehow I can't see that happening despite what I've just said) we could have the prospect of the team finishing second in the league with a record of P42 W37 D2 L3 PTS113 AND NOT BEING PROMOTED!!

Could I ask for non-biased opinions as to if anybody can see anything other than a two horse race even at this stage with half a season left or will the Canvey/Gravesend bubble burst and somebody different gain promotion?

Blimey - I don't know so much about "Game on"! *If* we'd beaten Basingstoke on Boxing Day, and *if* you'd slipped up against 'Ricay, and *if* we had gone on to beat both yourselves and Gravesend in the next few days then we might just have had an outside shout. I guess if we do beat you both we could then hope you lot get past Burnley and make it to the Cup Semi-Finals and also go on to retain the Trophy and grind yourselves into the dirt in the process - but that still leaves G&N. Sorry - I think most Shotties have just about given up on this season. Still - bet we give you a good spanking tomorrow! <img src="graemlins/round.gif" border="0" alt="[round]" />

Even Sir Alex in the real Premier League thinks that he would expect to lose only six games in a season so why does everyone try to run down the Ryman League.

If this!!! if that!!!

IF my Auntie had testicles she'd have been my Uncle.

Canvey and Gravesend DO have good squads this year but don't ASSUME the second half of the season will follow the first.
