For those of you who knew him, Big Kev sadly passed away on Monday evening. Kev put a lot of time in helping out at CIFC, especially over the last couple of years of his life. He was a steward for home matches, helped on the pitch whenever needed, and was always on the coach to away matches for a few beers. Funeral details will be on the official site when they are known.

Was absolutely gutted to hear the news yesterday. I was only playing darts with him last Thursday evening and he seemed fine then. Still in shock.

Kev was a good mate and he most certainly will be missed by many.

RIP Kev

Big Kev really was a gentle giant.

Always there to help with stewarding, pitch work and helping out at reserve match's both at weekends and mid week.

Saturday was a ritual almost 52 weeks a year which started with the lads meeting at the club around 8am, pick up Kev on route to the greasy spoon on Charfleets for a hearty breakfast then back to the club to prepare for the afternoon game or before hoping on the supporters coach for an away game. He will be sadly missed by all involved.

Kev was known by and will be missed by so many.

RIP my friend.

Shocking news and a very sad day for the club. A truly nice guy and CIFC through and through.

Also knew him from his days at Freshways.

RIP Kev and thanks.

Hi All,

Its been difficult to get any concrete information from Kev's family about the funeral arrangements apart from the date, time and location. The club will however be sending flowers and we believe it will be fine if any of his friends at the club want to wear the Canvey FC colours.

The clubhouse will be open upon our return where a small finger buffet will be available and of course the bar will be open.

See you Thursday if not before

Just flicking through some old photos online and found this one of Kev:

Kev Stewarding v Ramsgate

Brings it back. I don't know if everyone is aware but Kev's Dad wrote an amazing letter to the club praising and thanking everyone who knew his son. Copies are in the bar and the club shop - well worth a read.
