Entertainment before kick off.

Can we not encourage schools or even football clubs to have the final of a cup game played at the ground? I was watching the 5 a-side games on sunday at the prom. and it got me wondering about why not have the final of a tournament at the ground before kick off! I think the youngster would like it. They will play in front of a lot of people, who would probably like to watch and encourage them. This would generate more income as the youngsters will probably bring family members. Also why not do training sessions with clubs? A. Once a month or so pick a school and go and talk about the club, the team ,the future etc.

B. Hold a training session after school. It will also help to spot new talent. AS THERE IS A LOT OUT THERE.

These things are probably in the pipe line or even been discussed but as a season ticket holder and in the trust I thought I would like to air some ideas. Me and a lot of people who support this club will try and do our upmost to help in any way.

Good idea about staging finals at the ground the kids would really enjoy it, although I believe that the club is not flavour of the month with the Medway News Youth League & the Gravesham & District Primary Football League at the moment.

Ian Docker is the man for training sessions at schools etc as I believe he already runs some sessions at schools in the Gravesham area after lessons & although I was told by the club that they were not running an FITC scheme this summer, Ian did run a scheme for the kids alternating between Meopham school & Bowaters sports ground over a 5 or 6 week period during July/August.

I like the idea of the club visting local schools. The problem is we're part-time. Apart from a very small handful of people, everyone has day jobs, including the players & the manager. It would probably mean someone volunteering, getting permission to officially represent the club and doing it in their own time. Hardly any players live nearby either so it would be virtually impossible for them to attend, even though I've heard Tostao has moved into the area...but then no-one would understand what he was saying anyway! (just joking, Tosty!) However, if it could be done, especially if tied in with football training, it would do the club no end of good. Stonking idea, mate......and no, I'm not volunteering! :

Good idea but not very practical though, the teams normally come out to warm up just before 2:00 so everything would have to be completed by about 1:00 so that the dressing rooms can be cleared for the players.

This means starting sometime around 11:00 depending on how long the junior match lasts. If you are hoping to attract people to the first team fixture this makes it a very long day, with a long break between matches.

Well I am known some good ideas in the past. Well lets hope some of these ideas come to light in the near future as these kids could be one day player in the red & white and in the big league.

By the way stay by your phone as I hear Andy is looking for you. See you all tomorrow. cool.gif

Advertise for an annual 'Gravesham Borough Cheerleading Competition', which could be run over a period of a month or so with teams 'doing their thing' pre-game and at half time. The girls would then

Walk around the touchline on a 'lap of honour style' fleet fund-raiser. The girls who collect most money for fleet, are declared the winning team.

Their smiling faces in local paper, money in the fleet coffers and a smile on our faces, what more do we want?…best not answer that one.

Seriously though, I reckon it's a winner, probably a waste of time suggesting it's unlikley to happen, but if it ever happened I'd guarantee another couple of hundred blokes to boost the attendance.
