WHAT???

This is a wind up isn't it?

How can a club ban supporters like this? And ones as dedicated as this?

Dan - I assume you mean a petition?

A petition would be great - if a supporter from each club could do one - and get it signed by lots of fans - and send it to Dr Bob Spink MP - who according to Canvey's website is the Club President.

I am sure if it was sent c/o Canvey Conservative Club it would get to him. Not sure of an offical address.

I have altered my signature - if others could do likewise it would help spread the word.

Guys you have my support - I have read some of your website - and although our clubs do not play each other still, and we were the enemy - you have our FULL support in this.

As EFM & other clubs have said - keep us informed.

We are all behind you.

Away fans should boycott Park Lane during this - or at the very least avoid canvey's bar.

Have this morons not heard of freedom of speech. What they have done to people who have created a high quality for CIFC at no cost to the club so the club can gain more hits on its frankly mediocre official is terrible. Anyway I suggest rather than doing a petition which will take time or just voting with youre feet which frankly wont be noticed much and the dircetors would just blame falling attendce figures on other factors accctually go out their on Monday and make a clear statement of what you fell as supporters by holding a protest outside the ground and make it clear to the pwoers that be that you will not be setting foot in park lane until they lift the pathetic ban on voicing youre opinion.

It has been good to see so many people getting behind Ian, Matt & Merv and giving them the support they deserve. I have now put something on www.nonleaguefans.co.uk about the situation. If the ban is still in place when we go to Canvey in the league cup in November, then I will be going nowhere near the bar or snackbar and I advise all other away supporters to do the same.

It will be interesting to hear of anything that happens today at their game against Thurrock.

We all know what little value we as supporters mean to the club officials, until of course we are asked to get behind the team on the big games. So, some of the things that have occured in the past has not really surprised me - but I must say that this latest fiasco is beyond all sense and reasoning. Lets face it we have all had a dig about this and that over the past week or so, its a pretty standard thing that occurs on football forums. Therefor in reality just about every supporter should be banned also.

I really do think that this is where the supporters club should have some influence, unity at a time like this is very important, I for one would be willing to support anything that is positive enough to challenge this astonishing situation.

I think the problem is that most of the Canvey fans dont even know what has happened, unless they have access to a the web they will not know.Thats why I think it is important that we get some coverage in the press to let the majority of fans know the sort of people that are running the club.

Quote:
EFM The Firm, The Voice said:
EFM will get behind any demonstrations that may take place on the 2nd. May I suggest that you watch the games from the behind the ground on your seawall end for the time being with your supporters also, have banners and from memory you can still see the game (I may be wrong) this will embaress the club and reduce the income on the gates.

Absolutely, Thornsy. We'll still come down on the 2nd for a big piss-up, but will support any action taken by the Canvey supporters.

After finding out what happened from the horses mouth at Maidenhead (no offence Matt!), I think that it is blindingly obvious that the only reason they have banned Matt, Ian & Merv is to make their "official" site the only one. After all, they agreed to let them back in should they shut www.canveyfc.com down. The management have been so petty and ridiculous, and some of them need to get themselves up on the terraces and listen to THE FANS OF THE CLUB. These people know sod all about the fans, they just like to count the the money after fans pay £9 every time to get in. I do this every week, and over the first two games I felt that the money I had paid to get in at Park Lane and at Maidenhead was not good value for money. Without the fans the club would be nothing, and maybe it would take some kind of walk out to prove this.

Without www.canveyfc.com, Canvey Island Football Club wouldn't be the same club. Not only has it been used as a medium to relay information to the people who pay for the club aka the fans, but it has undoubtably recruited a whole new era of the Yellow Army. Fans who cannot see every game want to know what has happened, and because the official site (which is a waste of space and club money) doesn't give match reports, they may lose interest. I feel that the website team has done a great job over the years, and for Matt to be pulled up on this is nothing compared to the amount of praise they have lavished on the team after games such as Forest Green, Port Vale, Wigan etc. After Stortford Matt commented that the management needed to get it right or get lost. I can only assume this is what offended certain management people who were looking for any reason to ban the website anyway. Well, the management AGREED WITH MATT, as the next game the 4-4-2 was employed and the team were applauded off the pitch, despite only drawing with Maidenhead. If the team play good or bad, we will support them. However, naivitiy and narrow mindedness is something that we should not have to put up with, and if anything Matt may have made a point which was actually taken on board by the the management. God, somebody had to say it before we played 4-5-1 all bloody season.

Don't cave in guys, action has to be taken and I'm sure plenty of people would take part in any protest etc that is carried out, including myself.

Maybe writing to the Non League Paper, and other football publications would be a good start?

Yes dont give up! surely theres a solution to this battle where the website can stay online and continue to bring the fans what they want as well as the ban being lifted from the website team. Ive heard of banning fans for Running on the pitch and racist abuse but not for hosting a website. Doesnt 100% unofficial mean it has nothing to do with the club obviously not in this case. Its Madness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Great Eckscape - The comment of "Get it right or get lost" in my report on the Bishop's Stortford game was actually a real quote I heard down at end in the second half from another fan!! Hence the reason why there were speech marks present!

Also if this is the comment I put that offended the Club, why from the time I posted the match report to the time I was given the ban did someone not email me to ask me to politely remove it? That's approximately 72 hours they had to do so!!

Nice one Glen, maybe its time for us to stand up and be counted(or not counted through the turn stile).AS an aside,is the land we play on council owned? could anything be done if people stood outside the ground and looked in?(on suitable ladders of course).E.F.M will have to hire a coach with roof racks as the veiw from the sea wall is not great.
