The referee tonight was a disgrace....

...to football.
This ref from Reading should be banned by the league - I hope that Canvey put in a formal complaint.
Hi put 22 men, and 1200+ spectators at risk.
Is it illegal to publish his address and phone number on here?
BTW - I shall now close my Halifax account out of protest.
[ 08 January 2002: This message was edited by: Williamson is a disgrace ]

I'v seen some bad decisions by referees in the past but this one tops the bloody lot!!

How can he restart the game after 45 mins wait and still only 50% floodlights?

This referee(if that's what you can call him) is a disgrace! And his assistances have to take some responsibity also.

He put 2 good teams at risk.

Perhaps the Gravesend player that got injured in such poor lighting should consider sueing the Ref.
P.S. congrats to G&N on their win tonight. Lets look to the next game and carry on where we left off against Northampton! (And please get Vaughany on the pitch and off the bench!)
(God that ref gave me the hump tonight.) mad.gif" border="0 mad.gif" border="0 mad.gif" border="0

I disagree,i thought the ref made the right decision to carry on with the game and i feel embarrased that the floodlights failed yet again Gravesened wanted the game more than us so well done to them we now need to forget tonights game and concentrate on saturdays game against purfleet in the trophy then the league.

so come on you yellows get your heads up.

and tough if you dont like my comments but thats how it is. blush.gif" border="0 blush.gif" border="0 blush.gif" border="0

Canval -
Would you be saying that if someone had been seriously injured out there?
I agree that it is embarrassing that the lights keep failing - but that alone is not an excuse for a poor referee to put people at risk.
An in response to Dave - yes I would - players and fans should not be put at risk - even for the sake of 3 points.

The only disgraceful thing is the way you lot have taken a deserved defeat. Who was in danger with the lights at 50% ? You lilly livered poofs

The light was not that poor and I cant see that abandoning the game would have been right - the only reason anyone was put at risk ( as you put it) by the decision to restart the game, was the fact that the Canvey players obviously came out looking to kick holes in the Gravesend players ( as was witnessed by 2 bookings and a sending off in this period).
Since the FA Rules say, in the event of fog, the deciding factor is whether the ref can see from the half way line to both ends and right across the pitch, conditions could be far worse in that instance than was the case tonight - are you advocating that a match be cancelled/abandoned should any fog/mist at all appear ???
If as we were told by a steward, this is the 3rd time that the lights have gone out in the recent past, something clearly needs to be done - how can your ground be up to Conference standard if you are likely to have regular floodlight problems ?

I thought that the whole night was one big Canvey F*** up. The stewards out side the ground didn't have a clue. I ended up directing the traffic myself. Why did the game still kick off at 7.45 when there were still at least 200 people outside. Ran out of programmes. Then there was the floodlight saga. Your team just did not like it up em and resorted to some seriousley foul play. Is that what you meen when you say the lack of light made it dangerous ? The fact that our players couldn't see your disgusting two footed leg breaking tackles coming. I truly hope that one of us gets promoted as I dont fancy coming to your dump again.

I also agree that the ref was a disgrace playing the game with only 50% of the flood lights working and before anyone from Gravesend comes on complaining I fully agree that you deserved the Win and your guys were definately the more lively team.
I would also like to say that I thought if 75% of the game had been played (Which it had) the game would have been given to Gravesend anyway. (I would have prefered that !!
mad.gif" border="0 mad.gif" border="0 mad.gif" border="0 mad.gif" border="0
I also like to say COME ON CANVEY dont let your heads drop and get another one of those magnificent runs together.
PS. I also thought that Kick Off should have been delayed and I was one of lucky ones to already be in the ground.

i wasnt at the game so i am a bit in the 'dark' as to what happened.. what i can say is that the lights failing for the third time (are they wired up via the microwave?) is a disgrace, regardless of what a ref getting paid fk all trying to get an important game finished may have been like.. as for the traffic, most people knew the fleet wern't bringing a coach so there were bound to be loads more cars, surely these people should have been prevented from getting into park lane road , natuarally visiting fans will drive to the ground and then look to park (not knowing the area) but once you turn into park lane road there is no way back out for those not familiar with the area .. they should have been told to park on one of the many side streets on the left hand side of the high street...as i have said i wasnt there so i cant comment on the match but im looking forward to mervs report, i think its safe to assume

1. we were ****

2. they were very much not ****

3.toys came out of the pram in the last 15 correct?..

.. purfleet have thrown off the bore draw style lately and are scoring at will, should be a goodun this sat!!!

What an absolute load of sh*t that ref was last night. I was fuc*ing livid that after 45 min break the ref had the nerve to restart the match. Not only was I freezing cold but I was subjected to watching two fat overweight pikey's from Gravesend steak round the pitch. Now who was the ****** that said our ground was a dump - parden me but isn't Gravesend the sh*thole of Kent? Iv'e never been there but even the bloke who I work with who has the misfortune to live near there says it's **** - so sir if our ground is a dump - maybe it would be better placed in YOUR town.
Anyway enough of that - now to Saturday and Purfleet who seem to have started scoring - (must have been lucky goals)!!

Ok all though there were some bad decisions made by the ref it wasn't him that lost the game for us.

We have to face it that last night we did not play well at all and lacked it in Midfield, (tired legs possibly?), I don't normaly like to quibble about our players as they have done us so proud but Bennet, Sheesh man! he was bad at Burnley,(in my opnion), and again last night.

And what of Vaughny? I was certain that after the Burnley game that he would have been started last night if nothing else but to give Lee and Paul a break. I'm worried that if he don't start playing regular footy soon that we will loose him, bad news for Canvey in view.

I also felt that the game could have started later to wait for the crowd to have got in, I made a comment to the guy at he gate as the game was just starting when I was coming through and there were at least another 100 or so fans behind me and all he said was, it ain't my ruddy fault, I never even said it was so why I got that reply mistified me a touch, still!!

I think Stimmo should also appeal to the FA about his red card as it could have been put down to bad lighting.

Still not taking anything away from G&N they were very very good last night and I'm glad the game did go ahead I'd wanna see Canvey win the league but not with replays due to our bad flood lighting saga.
Hey Jeff how about spending a bit of that dosh you got from The FA cup run on some better flood lighting??
One last thing, what happened to all the noise from Canvey Fans last night, this was a home game for christ sake, you are allowed to shout come on Canvey every now and again.

Martin O should be ashamed of himself for suggesting the injured Gravesend player (injured by a Canvey player) should sue the referee. Its a***holes like him who have stopped kids being allowed to play football in schools because the teachers fear being sued if the kids have an accident !!!!! mad.gif" border="0 mad.gif" border="0 mad.gif" border="0 mad.gif" border="0 mad.gif" border="0
