We have signed McDougald on a 2 year contract, it`s going to be very interesting as to who starts up front from now on!

As mentioned on a post named Reserves, we have so many players with a lot of talent. This must be the best strength in depth squad we have ever had. How you keep all these individuals happy will be very difficult. With all these players however, still would like to see someone more dominant in defensive midfield. A big geezer who wins most of the balls, Bennett maybe. Although playing well, JK is wasted in the middle. Duffy made enough room for himself down the left last week but the right was quite weak without JK there.

Just remembered that McDougald scored for Brighton against us in the FA Cup in 1995 at Park Lane. Running towards goal, he hit the ball low and early from the edge of area and whether John Keeley was well placed or not but he appeared to put a slight curl on the ball.

He left the daggers as they could not meet his wage demand.I wonder what his wage is now. Oh well he will be a waste cause canvey won't win the league.

Hmmmm.....all these players.

I wonder how Canvey will cope with a salry cap if they win promotion?

65% of your INCOME - not Fat Jeff's wallet - is all that you are allowed to spend on players' wages in the conference.

i dont agree with wage capping, its a restriction of free trade.. if you cant afford it however the money comes in play in a lower or regional league.. if you spunked all your dough 5 years ago and are in huge debt why should smaller clubs pay for it?
having said that it is a fact of life and an interesting point.. maybe the 'canvey three' can be let back in but pay 3 grand a ticket ;-)..
it will merely encourage more backhander stuff.. also whats counts as revenue, the fans? the beer sold, the function suite, the night club, the factory the owners owns..?

Well anything that goes into the accounts as income for the the Inland Revenue counts, plus money raised from share issues.

There may be other itmes, but the conference have been a little cagy. BTW if you go into Conference 1 or 2 next season then the cap will be based on this year's income.

If income includes sponsorship and income from bars and food etc its amazing how the income can be made to anything you want? I remember
playing non-league when the wages were expenses left in your boots
therefore wages plus expenses equal any figure required
See you in the conference

PS. Not too difficult to have top players employed (please excuse the expression) as yellow and blue coats, maintenance men etc "working" on island camps
