OK, (not that i want it to happen), but say Andy left Fleet within the next couple months.

Who REALISITCALLY would want the job?

Could you really see a top name manager like a Geoff Chapple, a Mark Wright, a Nigel Clough wanting to manage Gravesend?

I dont mean to be downcast about Fleet as a club, i just think that there is a number of people on this board that live in "cloud-cook-coo-land" when it comes to things such as players and managers for Gravesend. Fleet is not a big fish in this league. Therefore, we need to get the best from what we've got.

We are not going to get players of Akinbiyi, Lisbie class (even on loan), simply because they will not even be in the slightest bit interested in coming to a conference club when they can sit and stay on the cushty number they are already at.

This club has progressed way beyond my expectations since Ford took over (surely we can all remember Halesowen and Harrow) and it is down to him that we all now have extremely-raised expectation levels.
A couple of season ago, all i'd expect from gravesend would be mid-table mediocrity in the ryman, doc martens that was served up by Weller, Aldous, Lovell.

However, people are now hopeful, expecting mid-table mediocrity in the next league up full of much bigger and more financially backed clubs (almost like a non-league div1 and premiership if you will).

Just remember all you fickle fans, who has been the manager of this club whilst this has been achieved but also lets try and stay in the realms of realism too.

Why is everyone after Andy Ford's head. Am I the only one who thinks he has done a great job?
He has taken us to the conference, how many managers could have done that on such a tight budget?
He has made some great signings despite money problems, ie Bentley, Wilko etc.
Players are always going to use Gravesend as a stepping stone to greater things all the time we are a part time club. So get down to Stonebridge Road, Bring your mates, your wife and kids, and invite all your mates, infact..just invite anyone you see on the way and get the turnstiles ticking and some money in Mr Fords kitty!!!

Well said Bateo
Andy Ford is the only Gravesend Manager in our history to get us promoted to the conference which I think people forget. Also bear in mind other so called leading managers who never achieved it with other Clubs, EG Peter Taylor at Dartford, how many years did it take Aldershot, Jeff King At Canvey still hasnt achieved it, for gods sake give the bloke a chance and lets all support the team and getus out of trouble although I still feel we need to sign a couple of decent strikers as Abbey, Pinnock, Howarth are adequate at best and not good enough at worst.
