How high can we go?

With many recent topics dwelling on poor results, poor players, injuries and suspensions, could I try to lighten the tone by indulging in a spot of fantasy?

There were these long legged, blonde girls... oops sorry, wrong fantasy and wrong website!!

No,seriously, if Canvey were to win the Rymans and be promoted and subsequently win the Conference, just how high does everybody see us going?

Division three has seen ex non league sides gain promotion many times before, so what of division two? Would we become a run of the mill division two side or can we envisage a division one slot and what are the chances of seeing the yellows aginst Manchester United on the island?

As I say, just a little light hearted fantasy, but what does everybody else think? I would be very interested to hear the players side on this, perhaps it's over to you Mr.Ward.

Joe - you are going too fast - SLOW DOWN

lets win the Ryman League first and then take the next step !
PS - if MUFC do come to Canvey - Mrs Becks can stay at my house anytime !!!
regards,
Ray (dodgy photo in the paper) Barton

I think this is more of a question of how high DO WE WANT TO GO. With the right level of investment anything is possible - Wimbledon is one obvious example but what about Derby which has a lower population than Canvey!!!
For me personally, the Ryman League is great, not too much travelling, occasional trips up North for cup games and a great and friendly atmosphere. I feel I can support both Canvey, where I have lived for the best part of 40 years, and Arsenal, the local club to where I was born, with no real conflict - it almost feels like a different sport.
But Canvey in the premiership with all seater stadium and playing the Arsenal on a regular basis just does not seem right!
Even the conference and away trips to Morecambe, Southport, Staylbridge etc is something that I am far from convinced about.
Anyway I am now off to Rotherham (I am up here on business) to watch their cup tie with Southampton and given what the town of Rotherham is like (small, run down and within 10 miles of 3 other leagues teams) it makes you realise that anything is possible for the gulls

Well, I would like to think that Canvey will be in the 3rd within the next 2 or 3 years. Maybe if they then go on to win that they will get a bye straight into the First Division as we would obviously have no problems in the 2nd wink.gif" border="0
Goober

By the time all that league fantasy comes of age I will be just "some ginger bloke who used to play for Canvey Island!" "What was his name?" you'll all say. Anyway let's hope that it would come true but I wouldn't expect to see it on the island maybe CIFC would takeover SUFC and then let them use it when we weren't busy!!
