Well Done - Canvey from Braintree

Recommended Posts

Irony that was spot on, if just one new fan attends a non league game from seeing Canvey or any non league side play on tv, then it was worth it.

Carjam I have to admit that Gravesend are playing very well at the moment!

but how good will they look when they play Canvey???
Lets wait and see!!

More congrats from Cressing Road for a great result for Canvey and non league footie. Seemed to me that you were missing the influential Steve Tilson on Sunday but Peter Smith played a blinder. Still see you as league winners come the end of the season but you had better get it sorted before the last game coz you might just struggle at Cressing Road. As I've said before Canvey, like Braintree, are growing and not trying to live out past glories like GANFC and Aldershot. Good luck against Burnley.

I hope we are not all going to go down the Kent v Essex Road again, I cant be bothered. I wish Canvey all the best in the cup, long may the run continue. Nothing else to add except my dissapointment when seeing the date of the re-arranged match at Canvey. Im on a late shift. Oh well at least I wont be contributing financially to keep some chap doing the washing and ironing all day.
Carjam
from the garden of england

Dave GNFC - are you saying that had they been in the lower half of the second division, you would have beaten them?
My point regarding the televised smoking chimneys was that they were obviously not on Canvey or the Essex side of the water as was implied. Yes my knowledge of Gravesend past history and glories would be sketchy, thats why I asked to be reminded, makes sense to me!!
Have a good Xmas to all Non leaguers.

Well I for one cant wait for the Canvey games. For all you people who think that Canvey are going to win the two games I realy believe that you are in for a shock. We are playing some fantastic football this season. The nucleus of the team have now been joined by the final pieces in the jigsaw and we are ready. Apart from the talented players we have a team spirit and fighting attitude that will see us through the toughest of battles. Bring it on !!!!!

Not necessarily but it would have improved our chances smile.gif" border="0 Remember we lost both matches by the odd goal and had a contentious goal disallowed in both the games. (Such is Life)
Still that will all be forgotten when take three points on January 8th

The match will be at Park Lane with the usual evening kick off time. (Our local press usually puts both down in the hope it'll get it right, so any time after 7s fine smile.gif" border="0 )
On that note, I'm sure a while ago a Canvey stated that Gravesend was just an excuse for a ferry trip - avoiding starting off the usual flying insults, I'd like to know what ferry, times, where it goes etc etc. I probably won't be able to get over to Canvey by car so I'm looking for anyway way possible, bearing in mind I can't be arsed to get the train up to London then back down again and swimming is a last resort!

Why not wait till low tide, take the mud flats and a very tall pair stilts would get you accross whats left of the water, you can even use the stilts to step over the sea wall.

Seriously I thought that one of your fellow supporters would offer you a lift. There certainly is not a ferry to Canvey, Tilbury me thinks and then a train from there to Benfleet I would presume.

Essy dont even think about a ferry and train trip . the service on the tilbury loop line is [****!!****]..if your trains go into london bridge trek up there get the jubilee line to west ham and a train to benfleet from there.. get off at benfleet grab a few sherbs in the half crown (providing your old enough of course) and get a cab to the ground after a few jars ..i strongly reccomend you ponce a lift home tho or it'll take you forever...blimey all that hassle to get here from gravesend..you can almost see gravesend from here.. actually f..k all that, nick a boat and just follow the flood lights..run it aground and hop over the sea wall, job done!

Cheers again, and no I'm not (legally at least ) meant to drink in pubs and it's a year to go til I'm driving, and I'll be up and down the country every saturday then (Doncaster, Southport, Chester.... ). I could ask my (quote: "It's a long way to Aldershot and I've got things to do") dad but theres little hope there.
Daves mentioned on our message board something about coaches which would be the perfect answer, so heres hoping for that. I'll get there somehow
