I've been doing a bit of research into the history of the Canvey v Concord fixture for James at the Echo, and came across the following in the programme for our first ever Senior match against each other on 14th September 1991 by Robert Errington:

"Incidently, do Concord Rangers have an official nick-name or affectionate title? I don't know of one but always assumed the club were named after the local Concord beach. (Is this correct)? Perhaps 'The Beach Boys' would be an apt name?"

Incredible to think this was written almost 20 years ago, Robert must have been a visionary!

I have to be honest and admit I have never heard anyone call Concord the Beachboys. I have though often heard them being called "cheating scum" but I don't think that was said affectionately.
