Accident waiting to happen im afraid,wrong club in the wrong place with the wrong people involved,they had many well meaning people who were prepared to help with the formation of the club but certain individuals who had no knowledge or love of non league football decided they knew best.It all goes back to the MYFC fiasco,shame to see any club go bust just hope that the few remaining members are reimbursed their money.

Coup - I've just seen the link, so it is true then, I thought for a minute that you might have been on the sauce tonight:

Southill Alexander pull out of the league.

Southill Alexander have today given notice to the Bedfordshire County Football League that with immediate effect they are withdrawing their membership from the league.

Club chairman Gordon Parham citing their very considerable difficulties on the player front which as severely hampered their efforts to field a competitive being the major reason, alongside the logisitics of himself and club secretary Sally Fletcher administering the club from their Norfolk home.

In accordance with league rules their seasons record is now expunged from record leaving Shefford Town & Campton FC as the new league leaders.

The club however to benefit the most are Caldecote,the only one of the leading title contenders to drop points to The Alexander this season.

I see the cat is out of the bag on another's Forum with members having an absolute field day such as this post:

I could never get my head around the fact that they [sA's committee/owners/sponsors ad nauseum]

thought it would be smart to start a new club in a town that can barely support two teams.

As soon as they were blackballed by the SSML the writing was on the wall.

According to my sources, they were knocked back long before the 'blackballed' stage.

The real victims in all this are not only the membersof this club who paid money in good faith but of course the Bedfordshire League who really put themselves out when accepting Southill at the last minute for the 2009/10 season after the SSML turned them down,you've got to feel that the Beds League who seem to be a really well run and friendly step 7 League deserve a lot better.

I think the majority of SSML members have always taken a keen interest in Southill Alexander, they also have, or should I say used to have, a lot of former SSML players

As i stated on another thread,i felt a project like this was doomed to fail,especially when you pitch up a club in a small town like biggleswade in the middle of bedfordshire where there is a non league club already.

I just hope these new fangled ideas of fans run football clubs are a thing of the past as the majority of people who watch football already have a club to support and are simply not going to change clubs.

For me,it was always a money making exercise to get people to join,if they did manage to promote it world wide and football nuts from all over the world heard about it and jumped on it then there would of been some rich people out there no doubt.Not saying that was peoples intentions but thats what could of happened

all this nonsense all stemmed from MYFC of course,it seems very strange that the people behind this club are forever posting on this site and today they are nowhere to be seen,lets hope they do the honourable thing and reimburse their members monies owed.At the end of the day you cant be a success at anything in life unless your hearts in it and these certainly werent non league people,youve got to sympathise with their worldwide membership who spent £50 on this white elephant,its the decent people like Nick Andrews and Willie Groshell who i felt were treated appallingly by the Officials of this club who are the real victims here.I hope people like Nick and Willie continue their involvement in non league football and find a club who will appreciate them and not just take their money.

agreed,seems some people actually think they are born to run football clubs when in all honesty many should stick to just watching games instead as they simply don't know enough about football

Well sadly it is true. Unfortunately most of it stems from the lack of success on the pitch. We finished last season really strongly & hopes for this season were very high. We lost a number of players in the summer & made some good replacements, then in September we had 6 players poached from other clubs higher up the pyramid. From that moment on we were struggling to field a competitve side. Of our shareholders, towards the end there were only a small core of active owners on the club forum. This was I believe down to the lack of success & the enforced breaks because of the poor weather.

Basil-Don is correct in stating the location is a major factor in our demise. Although The Carlsberg is a great ground, trying to get players there was increasingly becoming a problem, particuarly in the current climate with fuel prices. When there is no budget & it costs players around £25-£30 to get to training & matches you run the risk of losing them to a club more local to them. Added to that the promised sponsorship from a former Hornchurch owner never came close to frution. Had we known that from the start , I believe we wouldn't have pressed ahead on the scale we did.

Of the people involved at the end, I can categorically say that no one was involved for financial gain & it has been a pleasure for me to know these people & for all the trials & tribulations, there have been some enjoyable moments too.

To be honest Syd even if the club were top of the table i cant see how it would have worked out,i dare say it was a unique experience for you but im sure you will be looking forward to getting back involved with a more 'traditional' club with a normal infrastructure,got to be honest i thought that stadium would attract the players,you know what the facilities are like in the ESL and we dont have changing rooms like you had at the Carlsberg !!

Eastside Urchin im certainly not an apologist for Uncle Urchin but the idea that all of Southills problems can be laid at his door doesnt stand up to much scrutiny,after all for the past 18 months Uncle wasnt involved with the club.Its interesting that Uncle posted everyday on these forums then when Hornchurch 'hit the buffers' he was nowhere to be seen,looks like the Southill Chairman is following his example.The very least you would expect is a public apology to the clubs members and in particular the Bedfordshire League,unfortunately i cant see this being forthcoming while weare being fed this nonsense that the Club folded due to:

rising petrol prices {doesnt that effect every club in the country??}

uncle urchin {wasnt involved for past 18 months}

Clubs in wrong place {err its in Biggleswade,Bedfordshire the exact same place its been since its formation}

Southill lose their best players to Clubs higher up in the pyramid {err doesnt that happen to every club??}

their Secretary lives in Norfolk {didnt their Secretary live two minutes from the ground in Biggleswade then decided to move to Norfolk??}

Sorry have i missed out any other excuses?doesnt quite all add up does it? my sympathies are with no one but the members who im hoping have received a full refund and the Beds League,i sincerely hope that we wont be seeing any of these people involved in Non League Football again.

Basil, You obviously Still have a problem with 2 of our committee, but that doesn't mean to the club haven't offered apologies to the league or our shareholders.

Everything has been done above board, & I posted last night to be honest & explain the reasons behind our demise. Yet you still have to pick holes. UU had a massive factor in us struggling. Finding a groundshare 40 miles from our original wanted location & also saddling the club with a high agreement with none of the perks promised. Stealing £12 k from a friend after promising the world also kinds of hits you hard !

Player wise, I have no problem with players progressing, but to have 6 poached in the same week, including 3 of your back four would affect any club. There are proper procedures, yet not one player left within these. The FA didn't protect us at the time & the offenders have got away scot free. That's not right, is it ?

Now everything is done & dusted. Maybe the Secretary & Chairman will come on here to explain, maybe they won't. They deserve a break after everything recently & they will remain good friends of mine !
