Did we not appeal against this, if everyone was so convinced it was a wrong decision?

I would have hoped we did appeal but i havent heard anything to saywe have. It was an awful decision to send him off and the video evidence is conclusively against the ref in this case!! He shouldnt face a ban!

Andy Ford wasn't too happy about it either, he claims it was "dubious" and that the player "screamed like a baby"

Red cards are very rarely rescinded and unless the video evidence shows McKimm made no contact at all then it is not conclusively against the ref. ( even if no contact was made the ref can still say he was sent off for intent )

How many "unfair" red cards did we get last year and in how many of those cases did we win an appeal?

You ask, In how many cases did we win an appeal? As far as I know, we only appealed against 1(Benno's , I believe) red card last year and werent succesful.Dont believe we tried to get any other card rescinded ? So, I agree it was 100% failure rate but based on 1 case, its not a very good sample, to say the least !!

the video evidence i saw on ttv
would not support an appeal
it was a two footed tackle
ok both feet on the ground
and may be he pulled out
but it looked like the intent was there
whether it was intentional or not
only mckimm will know

Although I was a long way from the incident , the view I had , had red card written all over it..
It looked a two footed lunge, and I was not a bit suprised at the red card.
I have not seen the TV footage, nor would the ref at the time.

We may whinge we may moan, but we won't over turn it....

When do the automatic bans take effect? Also (and I'm trusting my memory here which is dodgey) I think the Reporter stated O'Reilly has a one match ban but the other two have three match bans. I thought a straight red was a straight red. Or did I read it wrong...

I think previous bookings and what they were sent off for has an effect. I believe that violent conduct for example is more serious than a professional foul.

Thats the whole point...even when the ref was clearly wrong you still don't win the appeal!

Actually we didn't appeal. Having seen the video we decided that it was not sufficiently clear to warrent the £250 cost of the appeal. The only card we appealed against, was Bentley's and in this case, the referee told Andy and Roly that he had sent Benno off for use of the elbow, but in his report he changed it to dangerous use of the arm so the rather scuppered the appeal on the grounds that there was no contact with the elbow.

Apparently the Leigh manager is thinking of appealing against their first sending off, of Maden.

If he wants to blow £250, he could just buy me a nice Christmas present or something.

he might want to go away and check the rules first then. You can only appeal against a red card, not two yellows <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

it looked like he gave a straight red for the second challenge, although it hardly warrented it.

No i watched the video and there was a yellow then a red. I must say I didn't think that the tackle warrented it though.

But shoudn't he have been given a straight red for the first one (haven't seen videos so I'm relying on memory...oh dear..) so maybe it's 2 wrongs make a right for the ref?

The first one was very late..I missed it at the game because the ball was already on the other side of the pitch. Having seen the video now, he can't have any arguments.
