Pay for a player???

Eastside Urchin

Just an idea I have been thinking about and I haven't spoke to the club about it but here goes.

I know other clubs have done something similar and although I know times are hard but how about as many fans as possible committing a certain amount of money per week/fortnight or month to go towards paying for a player. It doesn't have to be a large amount,in fact it could be for some as little as a pound a week but obviously,if you wanted to pay much more you could.Who knows,it could prove extremely popular that it could enable the club to go out and get another top player that could just give us the edge to go up.

The way it would work is basically each person would committ to a certain amount say £10 per week.I or the SA would have a list of those who are involved with their pledge,it is signed by both myself and the fan and at the end of the week is given to the club.

It's only an idea and I am sure not everyone will be able to committ but each pledge will be done in confidence and it will be a DONATION to the club,so if you can only afford 20p a week,no problem it will all add up.

What are your thoughts guys?

If anyone is interested in this then e mail me your pledges to robertburgess11@hotmail.co.uk and obviously let me know who you are and the amount per week/fortnight/month that you wish to pledge.I will then pass the total amounts to the club (not individual amounts as this should remain confidential)to look at and agree.

The idea wasn't specifically to get a new signing.

It was more to assist the club with funds taking any wages for one player off their hands, but by doing this it may enable the club to go out and get a new player. As I say,if anyone is interested e mail me your pledge and I will let the club know what we plan to do.We have a minimum of 7 away games on the trott which could feasibly rise to 12,that about 8 coaches we have to find money for as a club and wages for two months without a possible home game so it's an idea to assist the club

Update on this scheme.

It looks like we will go ahead with this.

Have spoke to the club and they are very keen.

I have had some positive response from the fans, although we would obviously like more people to get involved.

I know times are hard and it may seem that through the 50/50,Supporters Association that we are always after your money but it is for one thing, which is to assist the club we all love.

I had someone last night who felt embarrassed about only being able to pledge a small amount, don't be.That's what we want, the more people who get involved the better, every little bit adds up and it's not about individual amounts it's about the total we donate to the club.

If you can help then great,if you can't you already do enough by turning up every week to watch the Urchins.

Continued thanks for all the Pledges we have received so far.

Have had an interesting e mail from someone (who will remain nameless),pledging a significant figure for the rest of the season.

If anyone wanted to do this, this would be ok as well,as the person said, its easier for them.

Cheers

Spoke to Someone from Canvey yesterday who do a similar scheme, they all pay around £20 per month and have 25-30 people, this giving the club a regular donation from the fans,we are nowhere near this figure yet but as i have said in previous posts,it may be that we get smaller donations that people can afford but more than 25-30,who knows.

We have a Supporters Association committee meeting Tuesday where i hope the Supporters Association puts their name to this to make it more official, then we (hopefully)can make a more official plea to the fans.

The Supporters Association have agreed to run this scheme.

Colin Burford & Myself have agreed to take on responsibility for this.

We will continue taking pledges for this either in person or via e-mail and we will soon be making a full statement on how it will all work.

This is a scheme that enables fans to contribute towards helping the club with wages,it is mire of a collective and may enable the club to move forward in terms of players if successful

The player sponsorship is a good scheme but after October it usually gets forgotten in terms of people wanting to soonsor the playersand some people like to sponsor their favourite player.

If anyone wants to sponsor a player they can still do so but it is hoped that both these schemes can work, with this newest scheme just feeling as If the fans can make a difference

I am pleased to say that this scheme is now under way and the club have received some money from the fans.Although we have had some interest we could do with more to make it a success,I believe it could really help a push for promotion. So if you would like to make a donation (one person has opted for a one off payment) let me know.I think logistically it will be best if it's monthly rather than weekly,it's easier to collect and keep up with.

We have received some money for this scheme but not as much as we hoped.

It really could benefit the club in the second half of the season.I know times are hard but they are hard for most non league clubs.

I have a few people who said they would donate, can those people see me at the colchester or Farnborough game where we can arrange the donations. As i have said from the start, its not what you donate but the more that do the better for the club, payments will be made monthly at the first home game of the month (Farnborough this month & Lowestoft next month). So far we have given the club £200 but i have others who have plegded that i have not caught up with,if you could see me Saturday i and the club would be very grateful.
