Rebels 4 - 3 Ash Trees

Recommended Posts

What a poor long ball side Slough are...........

Ashford played all the football in this match 80% of the game was in their half...

Somehow we went in 2-0 down at half time, Kiri giving too much space away the ball was squared and the shot put away from the edge of the box off the post on 10mins. We conceded a 2nd goal from a corner on 35mins...

We started the second half brightly, Pietro scoring from the left channel on 47 mins, we continued to dominate play, pass the ball and move brightly and crisply and then they scored an absolute wonder goal hammered into the top left corner on 57mins.We went 4-1 down on 79 mins with another well drilled shot into the far right corner.. We never gave up never let our heads drop and Ashley fired a low shot past their keeper on 82mins, just after Bits had somehow missed and open goal, albeit from a very tight angle.... Bits then got on the scoresheet in the 87th min hammering the ball through the keeper when he should have stood tall and saved it.........

Overall we were easily the better team and I wouldn't want to go and watch that rubbish every week even if they are top of the table with 7 foot tall defenders.....

Talk about sour grapes and complete jealousy!

Were you actually at the game? It was an even contest and yourselves probably deserved a draw but teams that win leagues dig in and wins like today, win championships! We weren't great and we don't play like that every week, but we had key players missing, we are top because we have been consistently the best teaming the league so far!

Good luck for the rest of the season, yourselves are a good team!

Although I wasn't at the game today, I refuse point blank to believe that Slough played anything like as much "hoofball" as Woodford last week!

Now, that was a style of football I couldn't watch regularly...

Just to put it into context kevchencko. We had 5 first team players missing and didn't play great but we still won. The sign of a good team.

As for Ashford I thought you looked an average side. I was impressed with your Japanese full back. He was your best player.

Up the rebels!!!!

Mark, considering our side was thrown together more or less from scratch in 6 weeks by a rookie management team and we pay our entire squad and management team less than Arlesey pay one player (if you believe the forum chatter), then I think as long as we don't get drawn into a relegation dogfight then most of us would be quite happy.

I did watch the highlights before making my first post on this thread and I remain excitied by our potential going forward. However, the sheer number of high scoring games involving Ashford already this season highlights for me that we're not solid enough at the back.

I know the management are aware of the issue and are working on it, but it's not just a case of going out and getting more or different players in. For one thing, I don't think that would be the solution - we have a good bunch of lads and changing the mix might upset the balance.

I'd rather take the positives out of today - we scored three times, away from home, against a perrenial promotion contender. That tells me that we're a decent team and if we continue to work hard in games and in training, we'll be alright.

Well, seeing as that "rubbish" (as you put it) have just put 4 past you, I'd say you have just said a lot about how good your team are! The league table doesn't lie!

To be fair to Kevchenko he watches a lot of football at different levels, but he wasn't at last week's game. If he had been, the tone of his initial post might have been different..

As to how good our team are (or not), I would refer you to my post above, plus our win at St Albans in the FA Trophy. This Ashford side is a work in progress, while Slough have been challenging for promotion for several seasons and also have the second highest average attendance in the division. Therefore, I might respectfully suggest that Slough Town ought to be somewhere near the top of the table, especially in comparison with our young tyros!

Video highlights from the game today will be up on the Slough site (http://www.sloughtownfc.net) shortly which disprove a lot of the above inaccuracies.

Thanks I viewed the video and believe that the goals were reported accurately. 3mins 17secs doesn't really reflect what happens in the full 90 minutes of course, although the "highlights" including the goals show 11 Ashford attempts and 7 from Slough.... The difference was you took your chances well and like I said initially the 3rd goal was a screamer!

A poor deluded supporter with rose tinted glasses ...( like we all are ! )...

we tend to be bias in our own way ... so what counts is the result at the end of the day !

Normally the teams at the top towards the end of a season usually deserve to be there !

time will see what happens ...

up the Rebels..

I thought Slough were lucky to get one let alone four

I thought we were superb and ran the game for 90 minutes

I thought all our goals were fantastic

I thought the ref had a shocker.
