Sarnies 0 Ash Trees 4

No storm clouds at the ground formerly known as Tempest Road, as we eventually ran out comfy winners again a spirited Egham side who showed some nice touches and needed to be more clinical with their early chances.

Pietro gave us a 7th minute lead, lashing home a rebound from an Ash free kick on the edge of the box. He could and maybe should have doubled the lead in the 34th after a super run by Shane was ended by a foul from keeper Paul Borg in the box. Borg made two fine saves to thwart Palla's twice-taken spot kick.

It was still edgey when we were just the one up, but a classy 55th minute strike by Dan from a tight angle gave us breathing space. Pietro finished tidily in the 85th and sub Bitz made it 4-0 with a solid strike in stoppage time.

At times we played some lovely stuff in the game, and good to report that the defence held firm. Alan thought Kiri's combination of astute defending, searching through balls and occasional sorties into the final third marked him out as man of the match, and I think I'd agree. Overall, Ernie would have been proud.
