Tangerines 1 - 1 Beaconsfield

Recommended Posts

The classic game of two halves, the 1st as dull a dishwater the only action being "Macca's" Gordon Banks like save from Pele in the 1970 world cup

The second half was played with twice the pace and urgency so looked like the boys had something in their half-time cuppa :o We were running and moving everywhere and it was no surprise we took the lead on 67mins with Dan Brown playing the ball out to Ashley who put a lovely ball back in the box for Dan to head home.... The visitors were playing mainly on the break and a low curling left foot shot from the edge of the box on 80mins went into the bottom left hand corner giving Macca no chance.... They were a bit of a "niggly" side without being over dirty or physical and the officials missed many fouls that could easily have been given......

We pressed hard in the last 10 mins with the ball in their half but couldn't quite find what would have been a deserved winner.....

Bairoh was back after a few weeks for the suspended Russ and had a stormer, he certainly wasn't lacking any match fitness and all the boys ran their socs off in the 2nd period...

A bit gutting not to get all 3 points but a nice standing ovation at the end with supporters clapping the players off and the players responding likewise :D

And well done to Swifty sounding very "eloquent" on the tannoy B)

Cheers, Kev! Fully agree that Bairoh had a stormer - my man of the match, he made some fantastic tackles, at least one of them thwarting a possible goal, and was more like a quill pen than a 'biro'! He could give Burgo a few team selection headaches with that performance.

I can't understand why Bitz is being used as an impact sub. Without meaning to rock the boat, two of our midfielders today weren't that impressive, and when Bitz came on today and also at Egham he added some incisiveness and more attacking flair. I think Bitz would be a better bet in the starting line-up. While I'm at it, I may as well ask - what's happened to Scott Weight? Is he still injured?

I wasn't overly impressed with BSYCOB - I actually thought they played better in both games against us last season - but I think they'll be more disappointed with the result. For much of the first half we were pegged back and seemed happy to try and get them on the counter. The second half was a marked improvement. If you'd said we'd draw against a team that high in the table I'd have taken that, and a satisfactory point overall. Now for East Anglia on Tuesday!

Well done Swifty "Quallity shows"

That'll be another job I've been relieved of then, will it? :D Marvellous!

On a serious note, it is a nightmare not being able to get to Saturday games in this cold weather, so thanks to all who are helping out.
