Cameron comes under fire!

Recommended Posts

It's a fair comment and we're going to be stuck with the results for the next 5 years unfortunately.

I just hope that those of us who are still working keep their jobs.

Cup of Tea - What alternative did we have though, would you really have preferred Ed Miliband in charge of the Country

I tend to look at policies rather than personalities, unfortunately personality does seem to be more important in certain circumstances.

The previous coalition government tended to target the poorest off in society to pay for the excesses of the financial sector and without the Liberal Democrats to hold Cameron/Osborn in check, this situation is now going to get considerably worse. As for the financial sector, business as usual despite all the rhetoric we've heard about clamping down on them. Banning short selling (which is essentially gambling) would have been a start.

Would Labour have offered a viable alternative? I think they would have struggled but I would have preferred that to the next 5 years of even more austerity that we are now going to see. I think we could also see us leaving the EU in 2017, that will be an economic disaster for the UK.

We need to look at the voting system in this country but unfortunately the two main parties will never allow change to happen.

I honestly believe that if Labour promise proportional representation it will be a massive vote winner, and possibly their best chance of winning an election. Unfortunately in our celebrity obsesses country we now vote for Prime Ministers and the rest are little more than cannon fodder.

How can anyone possibly knock Cameron for totally turning our green and pleasant land around in less than five years, we were on the ropes when he came to power and what he has achieved bordered on the impossible, okay we all had to tighten our belts for a while but it has paid huge dividends.

Who has it benefited though. Certainly not people on zero hour contracts, or anyone trapped in privately rented accommodation who will never get on the housing ladder, public sector workers who have seen their living standards plummet and now have to work years longer and will retire on a much reduced pension. As you fall into quite a few of the above categories I can only assume that post was just another one of your wind ups.

But would it be any different or better under a Labour Government, I don't think so and, anyway, they have nobody competent enough at the moment to run the Country do they.

Choice was between more austerity and a slightly quicker recovery or a fairer society

Unfortunately, fear of the SNP played into the Conservative's hands and got them re-elected.

I genuinely hope that you don't lose your job -  You will then see the reality of the 'recovery'

I can only see pain ahead, see Romford Boy's post above for details.

He failed to mention the massive increase in the use of food banks as well.

I also forgot to mention the bedroom tax. A mate of mine is waiting for the council to relocate him from the three bedroom house he has lived in all his life because he only has his meagre state pension to live on and can't afford the extra payments. Strangely he voted Tory because he believes all the crap he reads in The Sun.

I believe more people are in a better position now than they were 5 years back, yes not everyone is better off but I believe more are than are not and that is the key thing.

Call me selfish but I only care about myself and family and friends,no one else as the fact is that I don't expect people I don't know to give a toss about me and I know they wouldn't.

Cancer and other serious conditions can happen to anyone, and IMO anyone that votes on the basis of how much money they have in their pocket is a blithering idiot.

I have a very close friend who is fighting cancer,I also have other friends and my current girlfriend who have fought cancer and beaten it in the last few years.

Not one of them has spoken anything but good about their experience with the NHS as it is,it seems the usual scaremongering from many in the left who bend and twist the reality to suit their needs

Sorry Rob but you are so wrong on this one. From first hand experience I'm certain that the pressure staff are under at our local oncology department is at breaking point. Even worse patients are denied life extending or even possible life saving drugs on cost grounds. There's absolutely no twisting reality on this subject. I really wish there was.
