Wembley FC

Recommended Posts

Sorry to sound like an old misery, but this makes a mockery of football at this level and in my humble, Wembley FC are being used. I would say it also makes a mockery of the FA Cup, but it's a bit late for that.

Still Sky Sports News and The Sun etc, together with armchair PL fans will be delighted....

Rules out Wembley as serious title challengers in my opinion. I wouldn't think the superstars aren't going to be around for some of the (less important) fixtures. Players that fill the gaps then get hacked off when dropped to make way next time. Will prove a difficult task to manage so good luck to Batesy

Lets hope they get an away tie at least to a Combined Counties side in the F.A.Cup,at least that way,the C.C.L. gets decent coverage.I did mention this would happen many moons ago,Tel said 'Love the F.A.Cup' and 'Wembley Stadium'My worry would be that they Target the Vase, which would be winnable,my sources tell me that more signings are to be announced, Hansen,Lawrenson,Shearer,Lineker,Gazza evenThey are after all giving their Services for free,a la Guernsey.

Wembley FC manager Ian Bates said: "The opportunity to learn from ex-professionals like Parlour and Seaman - who have been there and done it - will give us the best chance possible to go further than we ever have done in next season's FA Cup.

"A year ago we were playing in front of an empty grandstand and the clubhouse was falling down. Now the investment means great times are waiting for Wembley FC and we can't wait to kick off our FA Cup campaign."

Chairman Brian Gumm added: "We're not a big club but we have big ambitions. With Budweiser as our sponsor we now have a shot at making those dreams come true."

It's only in the FA Cup - couldn't imagine Caniggia playing week in week out in the CCL, could you??

Either way, it's a joke, an insult to the FA Cup ADN the Wembley players whop will play week in week out for the club in the CCL but miss out in the FA Cup cos some [****!!****]ing has-beens are getting a last paycheque from some crappy brewery.

If I played for Wmebley I would tell them to shove it.

great publicity for the league but a bit of a joke really and I'd be pretty pissed off if I was playing for them every week only to get dropped for a retired footballer and BBC pundit to come in and take my place.

I'd love to see Le Saux come and turn out for them against Guernsey FC though, I'm sure he'd get a fine reception!

bit more detail there.

theres no business like show business. I think there will be cheer leaders, dancing bands and a special kick off for overseas tv.

and why not? as trev says the fa cup lost credibility when manure played in some other cup instead, and when every bugger got to play at wembley ( the big one)

Are Guernsey in the fa cup? Total network saints of wales? ,maybe glasgow rangers 2012? I really hope its a proper draw and not some set up fixture....

Provided that the club is being solidly financially backed, and that Budweiser won't suddenly pull out on a whim, then it's a good bit of publicity and I don't think it'll harm their chances at all.

If Socrates can play for Garforth Town, then what's the harm in some old pro's going after one last pay check in the game?

Spurs, funnily enough TNS have applied to take part in the FA Cup this season.

One thing which might go against them is the 'cage' around their arena they play in at Oswestry, as I'm not sure it's allowed by the FA?

Beg to differ on that. Your average armchair type will just think it's a bigger joke than he thought it was, if a load of old has beens feature! Maybe NG was right after all, it's just a glorified Sunday morning league!

The only ones who will get good publicity out of this will be a US drinks company and, I suppose, Cherry Red Records.
