old picture - is this gravesend?

Hi,

I found an old picture in an album of my grandfather. He worked a lot in Great Brittain. On the following picture you find him standing on a mast (pole), doing some tricks. Under this picture my grandfather wrote "Gravesend". I think the picture is made around 1950.

Here is the link to the old picture:

Do you recognize anything?

Regards,

Have lived in the Windmill Hill area for 22 years and walked my dogs in the area many times and I am sure you are right. I have no doubt that it is Woodlands Park. Aren't you clever to have 'placed' it Roy gnfc.

You're spot on about the gangs of kids.

I'm glad I'm not the only one to have noticed that these little vermin who blot the landscape almost invariably wear the same offensive headgear. Also despite the nonsense from old geezers in The Reporter, they're never black, Asian or Eastern European asylum seekers. They are [***!!***], ferile little gits with the same colour skin as me.

Personally, I'm passionately against the death penalty, but could be convinced re. bringing it back for trash wearing baseball caps, with no right of appeal if these hats are white or Burberry, with drawing & quartering thrown in if wearing a hooded top over the top.

Well, now that's off my chest, I feel a lot better. Let's get down to Exeter & see the victory which begins our best ever cup run.

Mate, I can understand your comments regarding certain sections of society who’s actions decrease the standard of living for law-abiding citizens, but have to disagree with some of certain statements…

Firstly ‘also despite the nonsense from old geezers in The Reporter, they're never black, Asian or Eastern European asylum seekers’. If this were genuinely your belief UG, I would commend you on your naivety. Scanning through these weeks Reporter and other local newspapers there are a various incidents, which involve members of the ethnic community. Also if my memory serves me correctly, wasn’t there a fatality to a gentleman as a result of a feud between Asians at Gravesend Promenade were knives were used? Too add to this there was a high profile incident in the town centre involving two large gangs of asylum seekers, one from Kosovo and the other from Iraq – again resulting in the loss of human life.

Secondly, if you do not see many ‘incidents’ both locally and nationally then the reason for that may simply be that you are not allowed to. A notice (d) can be placed on certain incidents, which may, if reported, jeopardise the harmony within an area. These happen frequently, and you may be surprised to learn that there is more to racial attacks than Stephen Lawrence - racism cuts both ways!

However to finish I would commend you on your comments regarding Burberry (or is it simply imitation Burberry that’s the trend amongst the ‘white lightening mob’?) As someone who, whilst not at work, lives in a baseball cap I personally prefer Ermenegildo Zegna, Paul Smith, Hugo Boss, Paul & Shark or Gant - much more discreet.

And more importantly, as someone stated on this forum not so long ago, GNFC is a broard church and the members of its flock have many diverse political opinions. Let’s use this board for what it’s intended though and not as an opportunity for a political rant.

Over and out.

Oh yeah, and come on Fleet!

Mr Genius, I could join you in that argument for hours on end. WHo are all these saddo Denton Boyz going round scrawling their 'tags' all over the place... even on a couple of funeral homes? Hey, maybe I'm biased that I got jumped on - unprovoked - by 10 of these brave little rats, but I'm sure valuable and money-spinning pre-match entertainment could be guaranteed if we rounded them all up and were allowed to poke them in the eyes with rusty skewers...

I got into a row with a load of these little turds last year, all white by the way, all living around the kings farm area. Ended up pinning one of them up against the wall by his throat with the threat of castration if he kept carrying on in the same way. But I could have ended up done for it as these kids are all about 16-17 years old. It's getting ridiculous.

I know at least one person on this board who has been beaten up by these kids, and a few others I know have had the same done to them. something needs doing about it pronto.

Oh, and I wear a cap too John, as you know. I don't nick cars either lol

It certainly looked familiar but I could not place it either..I was going to say looking towards what is now Painters'Ash estate but I would have been facing the wrong way but I was in the right part of town at least.

Since I have not been back since 1969 it is no surprise. Are they the alms houses in the background?

I was being slightly tongue in cheek about the headgear chaps, but I completely share the views of other people re. these gangs of almost exclusively white teenagers who blight people's quality of life. I know about the incidents on the prom, Carlos, but these were different types of disorder altogether. Yes they were extreme & the perpetrators need dealing with, but neither was likely to effect Old Joe soap, just going about his business, whereas the people immediately recognized by Stu M & Chrisblanc specialise in making people's lives a misery.

Enough of this . Back to footy. Graet result today.
