Guernsey v Horley Town (Boxing Day)

For those interested, the Horley Town v Guernsey match on Boxing Day will now not take place. According to the Guernsey Press this is to save Horley from a trip to Guernsey over the festive period. I assume now the likes of Smudge will say how wrong it is that UK based teams are given this dispensation? Just like he would if this was given to Guernsey if they were scheduled to play away on Boxing Day.

Personally, if this suits HTFC over the festive period then that is fine with me. Cant see it being easy to persuade players to fly away on Boxing Day.

So the turkeys voted for Christmas then, but not for Boxing Day ;)

Do I detect just the slightest tinge of cynicism, Trevor ?

Don't forget they would have to travel on Boxing Day as Airport is closed on Christmas Day. No new date as yet. Few fixtures backing up, a lot dependent on FA Vase.

I heard on the grapevine that they were due to travel on the morning of the match (flight leaves LGW at 8.30) and assumed they would travel back the same day as that would be better for them. But I am sure they ckub would have paid for a hotel for a night as per the agreement with CCL. I don't think it would have been fair to expect any player to be away on Christmas Day and nor would it be fair for GFC to pay for 2 nights or expect HTFC to cough up.

It would seem quite possible if we continue to be successful then we will have to play a lot of games in a short space of time. But that comes with success on the pitch.

I was looking forward to it! But I'm a selfish git! Interesting what the response would have been if it had been the other way around from the likes of Smudge who "loves Guernsey"

Yes aren't we classed as Gatwick as being our "home", certainly some players feel they know it better than their own homes!

Jason is out for the season with a knee injury sustained against Crowborough in the Vase. Luke has left the island and is playing in Australia. Real shame for Jason as he is the most improved player and a nice lad. Having an operation soon to fix the damage. Bad injury.
