Jeff King on BBC Essex

Jeff king was just asked about the story that was posted on the un-official Ryman site - that used to be NLOTN.
He said that both the story and the site were a load of rubbish.
The original story was here if you missed it.
Come on Isthmian Fans - how could you honestly think that Jeff would leave and go to Southend?
Get Real....
Thank goodness our website ignored the story.

Fair enough, good that he's finally said something on the subject, although it took a while for him to comment. A lot of trouble could have been solved if he'd bothered to reply direct to them though rather than ignoring their enquiries.
And don't forget that IsthmianFans wasn't the first place to report the story (or the last - it was in Heybridge's Programme today)
HB

Maybe so - but Isthmian Fans caused a lot of the problems - according to their discussion board - Steve said the story came from a reliable source - yet he added the bit about Southend - when Grim was it - joked on the forum about him taking his money to 'Sarfend'.
Name me one other site that carried the story - it was not on the Canvey website or on this site - surely the Canvey site would have carried the story if it was true.
I seem to recall that Steve had to retract a story In February as well - not very reliable is he?

If Jeff ever decided to go to 'Sarfend' he would lose more money than he'd make, not just in the football club either.
Lets face it, Southend fans are jealous of Jeff King and our club. Canvey Island fans hate Southend United because of it. If he joined them he would have to clear all their debt plus make transfer funds available, higher than he currently uses. (Is our record fee still only £5000?)
I'm sure Jeff is Canvey through & through for quite some time to come yet.
Matt CIFC

It has been reported that the webmasters at Isthmian Fans have been trying to stir up trouble for Canvey Island FC, knowing that with the amount of jealousy around for anything connected with the Ryman Premier leaders there would be plenty of others who would jump on the bandwagon and fuel the fictitious fire.
Don't worry, I won't publish that story. At CanveyFC.Com we are too responsible.
Merv CIFC

The story both came from www.scorecheck.co.uk and from a normally reliable source.
Attempts to contact the club were made, both by phone and fax, but due to my working commitments, I didn't get much chance to contact by phone during working hours.
If Jeff King had that much of a problem with what was printed, as mine, and my colleagues contact details are freely available on the site. Other managers have managed to contact us in the past.
When I receive something official from Canvey Island FC stating that the story is untrue, I will publish a retraction. Until that time, I see no evidence of the story being inaccurate.
It is a real shame that Canvey Island appear less than helpful, every other club I have been in contact with have been more than helpful.
Good luck for the championship run in.

Name names Steve - because you are lying.
Scorecheck deleted the story, because they realised that they had been wound up. You are too stupid to realise that, and despite Jeff saying live on BBC Essex that it was rubbish, you still continue to resuse to make an apology until Jeff contacts you in person. How sad.

Yep, I'm sad - tell me something I don't know.
I've been called far worse over the past three years.
Strangely you may have noticed I don't live in Essex, so won't have heard Jeff King's interview on BBC Radio Essex.
Anyone gotta MP3 or Realaudio copy of the interview I could listen to?
Too many people take us too seriously - its a fans site, not an official site - all it needs is an e-mail and a phonecall and we can get things sorted, instead of which I get slagged off all over the place.
It's very tempting to do what you guys want and shut the thing down. Maybe you'll just get lucky cos I give up.

It's been reported this week that His Holiness the Pope is holding a special mass for Canvey Island before the Gravesend game on Tuesday. The Pope has always been a big Canvey fan and a close mate and drinking partner of Jeff King.
(By the way, this story comes from a usually reliable source. I did try to conact the venerable soccer fan on pope@vatican.com and so far nobody has denied the story. As there is no denial it must be true - not)
Thank goodness Ian, Matt and Merv don't run our website in this way. Running a news page on a website requires a certain amount of integrity. Who was it said, "Never let the truth get in the way of a good story?"

It is a good job you are not a Churchgoer, because if you were you would probably make up stories about what was being preached from the front.
I can here it now 'it was from a reliable source, that Jesus was seen being booked for speeding on the M25' - rediculous isn't it - just like your rumours.
