I think the problem here is the Internet - peoples comments easily get taken the wrong way. If these things were said face to face, everyone would probably be laughing by now.

But words on a computer screen often get misconstrued.

Still, I can understand Dave's frustration when questions on the date and time of a replay get asked here after they are posted on the fixtures section of the main site.

That's correct Alan, I informed the club at the start of the season that this year was to be my last.

I have been running the site since the start of the 1996/97 season, I and felt it was time to move on.

It's got nothing to do with fans or the club or anything else, it's simply that I no longer get the same excitement as the early days and so it's time that someone else took over.

Well they will have to get used to using the Website as I doubt that my succesor will be quite as keen to run the site and then answer the same questions again here.

Quite frankly I don't why I do if this is the sort of reaction.

Resigning is not the correct word obviously if we want to split hairs but ill have a small wager with you payable to the Fleet fund of no more than 100 quid that you remain firmly in control of the website over the next 6 months. Deal????

Make it the start of the season 2004-5 season then. Dont get me wrong Dave you are an excellent club man, and a very discreet person, the perfect man for the job for people like Andy to speak 2, but u get so wrapped up in this Dave its unbelievable and u do get snotty with people quite often on this forum. U goto work and you must surf forums all day long, come home from work and spend hours surfing again. It cant be good for you and as you say you should take a break but i think you're addicted to it and wont leave it alone hence my bet.

I will be taking a break on the earlier of the last day of this season or when the club find another mug, sorry dedicated person to run the site.

I have other things that I want to do with the time that I currently spend on updating pages that no one can be bothered to read, this includes using the extra time to expand my business, so if you need a tax return doing next year. I'm your man.

It will also mean that I can become more involved with the Trust, which I can't do while I have this to do.

So no Matt I won't take your money, well not on this occasion anyway.

Matt - This isnt a threat from Dave - I believe the Website is to become the clubs official responsibility in due course and that Dave will get a well deserved rest.

Will this effect our freedom of expression regarding issues affecting the Club?

I've always regarded the www.gnfc.co.uk domain name as the official website for the Club but because it has been maintained by a fan I've never had any problems expressing my views on a given subject.

However, if as reported the maintanance of the site is to be managed by "Club Officialdom" is there not a chance that any views that do not agree with the status quo will get censored?

If this happens - all you will get is a lot of unofficial sites appearing as with other clubs.

A lot of good has come out of this website in the last couple of years as a result of people expressing their views about issues regarding the Club they feel passionate about.

Lets hope the men in grey suits don't take over the sanatorium!!!

You have to wonder what will happen Jim, perhaps Dave has seen it coming which is why he wants to get out. It must be difficult for you Dave as on one hand you are a true fan and on the other cant voice strong opinions on the forum as this is an official site. Whatever happens i wish you luck building up the tax returns business. Kills me every december trying to figure it out on-line !

It's nothing like that at all Matt, I have just decided that I have done it for long enough and I am going to stop.

But remember that these forums are run independently, and although I adopted this site for the official forum, if the new webmaster decides to go elsewhere, there is no reason this particular site shouldn't carry on.

Just don't expect anyone offical to answer any questions, after the answer will be on the website. <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

PS Just for the record, I was NOT having a go at Vera, merely commenting that having spent time over the weekend putting on details like the match on Tuesday will be segregated, to find people expecting me to do their research for them.

Ford banks on Cup win

Gravesend & Northfleet boss Andy Ford says the FA Cup qualifying replay with Exeter is a "must-win" game.

"We have to do it full stop," said Ford.

"We have to be winners on Tuesday, put a performance on and get the crowd behind us.

"The determination and spirit are there but we have to turn that into competent performances at home.

"We have to go out and enjoy it and not worry about it," Ford told BBC Radio Kent.

Meanwhile, Exeter striker Steve Flack reckons the Grecians were unlucky not to wrap the tie up in the first game on Saturday.

"We were unlucky and now we have got to go up there and try and get through which we are more than capable of doing," said Flack.

"We are certainly not fazed by the task in hand.

"We have played some good football away from home so far this season and it is set up nicely," he told the Exeter Express and Echo newspaper. "
